Ricardo Greer claims French ProA weekly honour - Jan 15, 2013

Ricardo
Greer
Experienced American-Dominican Rep. Ricardo Greer (197-F/G-78) had a very impressive game in the last round for Strasbourg and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 15.
The 34-year old swingman had a double-double of 22 points and ten rebounds, while his team beat Orleans (#8, 7-8) 81-70. Thanks to this victory Strasbourg moved-up to the 3rd position in the French ProA. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Strasbourg will need more victories to improve their 10-5 record. Greer has many years of experience at Strasbourg, through which he has constantly improved. University of Pittsburgh graduate has very impressive stats this year. Greer is in league's top in rebounds (2nd best: 8.0rpg), assists (5th best: 5.0apg) and averages solid 54.9% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 24-year old former international center Ludovic Vaty (206-C-88) of Gravelines. Vaty impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds. Of course he lead Gravelines to another comfortable win outscoring slightly lower-ranked Chalon (#6, 9-6) 102-69. This victory allowed Gravelines to move up to 4th position in the standings. His team's 10-5 record is not bad at all. Vaty is well-known by Gravelines fans and he already established his position as one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was American Matt Howard (203-PF-89) of Roanne (#12). Howard scored 22 points and grabbed ten rebounds. He was a key player of Roanne, leading his team to a 80-67 easy win against the lower-ranked Le Havre (#15, 5-10). The chances of Roanne ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 8 games, recording just seven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Howard could help Roanne to bring them higher in the standings. Howard has a great season in France. After 15 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 6.9rpg (9th best). He also has FGP: 56.5% and 3PT: 45.0%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Zach Moss (201-F-81) of Dijon - 21 points and 3 rebounds
5. Brian Greene (204-F-81) of Orleans - 21 points and 8 rebounds
6. David Lighty (195-G/F-88) of Nanterre - 20 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists
7. Sean May (206-F-84) of Paris-Levallois - 16 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
8. John Cox (196-G-81) of Paris-Levallois - 16 points, 2 rebounds and 7 assists
9. Alexis Ajinca (215-C-88) of Strasbourg - 20 points and 3 rebounds
10. Marcus Goree (201-F-77) of Cholet - 19 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
