The game between third ranked Perpignan (11-5) and seventh ranked Tarbes (9-8) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Perpignan was defeated by Tarbes in a tough game in Perpignan 73-78. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Perpignan. Tarbes forced 21 Perpignan turnovers. The former international guard Paoline Salagnac (176-84, agency: Josep and Nicolas) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points and 9 rebounds. Spanish guard Gabriela Ocete (170-88) contributed with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. The former international forward Diandra Tchatchouang (186-91, college: Maryland) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 16 rebounds for Perpignan. Tarbes moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Nantes. Newly promoted Perpignan keeps the third position with five games lost. Tarbes is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Union Hainaut (#14) in Saint-Amand in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Perpignan will play on the road against Nantes Reze (#7) and is hoping to win this game.
Bottom-ranked Arras managed to get a fourth victory, breaking the series of three consecutive loses. This time they won against eighth-ranked Mondeville 75-71. American point guard Dawn Evans (170-89, college: JMU, agency: LBM Management) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!) for the winners and Olesia Malashenko chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds. American forward Amanda Lassiter (186-79, college: Missouri) responded with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Arras (4-13) moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Union Hainaut. Mondeville at the other side dropped to the ninth position with ten games lost. Arras will play against league's leader Lattes Montpellier at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mondeville will play against Charleville-Mezieres (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Loser Villeneuve D'Ascq keeps the tenth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Aix-en-Provence and Charleville. Lattes Montpellier will meet Arras (#13) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Villeneuve D'Ascq will play against Lyon and hope to secure a win.

The best player for the winners was Mistie Mims who scored 24 points and 7 rebounds. Lyon's coach Laurent Buffard allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Lyon maintains fourth place with 11-6 record. Nantes Reze at the other side dropped to the sixth position with eight games lost. Lyon's next round opponent will be Villeneuve D'Ascq (#11) on the road and are hoping to win another game. Nantes Reze will play against Perpignan (#3).

There were no big surprises in other games of round 17: Toulouse beat Union Hainaut on the road 58-52. Landes won against Charleville on its own court 67-56. Aix-en-Provence unfortunately lost to Bourges in a road game 64-74.


Lattes Montp. - Villeneuve 79-62

LFB top team - Lattes Montpellier (15-2) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they beat tenth ranked Villeneuve D'Ascq (6-11) 79-62. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Villeneuve D'Ascq. The game was mostly controlled by Lattes Montpellier. Villeneuve D'Ascq managed to win fourth quarter 23-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The former international forward Geraldine Robert (183-80) nailed 20 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winning side and the former international forward Fatimatou Sacko (177-85) accounted for 15 points and 8 rebounds.
