Justin Reynolds claims French NM1 weekly honour - Feb 10, 2013

Reynolds
American Justin Reynolds (204-F/C-88) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's leader Vichy and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com NM1 Player of the Week award for round 21.
The 24-year old power forward had a double-double of 23 points and thirteen rebounds, while his team beat Cognac (#5, 12-6) 85-71. It allowed Vichy to consolidate first place in the French NM1. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Vichy has a very solid 15-4 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. Reynolds turned to be Vichy's top player in his first season with the team. Justin Reynolds averages this season 13.1ppg and 5.7rpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 28-year old British forward Andrew Thomson (205-F-84) of La Rochelle. Thomson impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds. Of course he lead La Rochelle to another comfortable win 83-66 over the lower-ranked St Chamond (#13, 6-12) being unquestionably team leader. La Rochelle's 6th position in the standings has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 12-7 record is not bad and everything may still change. Thomson is a newcomer at La Rochelle and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was American Tyray Pearson (201-F-80) of St Chamond (#13). Pearson scored 25 points and grabbed ten rebounds. Despite Pearson's great performance St Chamond lost 66-83 to the higher-ranked La Rochelle (#6, 12-7). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of St Chamond not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 12 games, recording just six victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Pearson could try to bring St Chamond's a little bit higher in the standings. Pearson has a very solid season. In 3 games in France he scored 21.0ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Benjamin Thomas (181-PG-82) of Vichy - 23 points, 2 rebounds and 7 assists
5. Alex Okafor (202-F-87) of Rennes - 23 points and 7 rebounds
6. Guillaume Merie (198-F-83) of Chartres - 24 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists
7. Frederic Minet (188-G-81) of Souffel - 19 points and 6 assists
8. Cedric Mansare (195-F-85) of Sorgues - 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists
9. Fabien Herard (198-F-79) of Challans - 16 points and 12 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
