There was no lack of interesting games this round. The round ended with defeat of the leader, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Pau-Lacq-Orthez (18-5) in Aix-les-Bains on Tuesday night. Visitors were edged by ninth ranked Aix-Maurienne (12-11) 76-75. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Pau-Lacq-Orthez. The hosts trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 19-9 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Aix-Maurienne made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Aix-Maurienne had a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American Wilbert Brown (200-84, college: Niagara, agency: Z.A.G. - Law Offices) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 6 rebounds. His fellow American import Wayne Chism (206-87, college: Tennessee) helped adding 17 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Brian Boddicker (204-81, college: Texas) responded with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Aix-Maurienne maintains ninth place with 12-11 record, which they share with Rouen. Pau-Lacq-Orthez at the other side still keeps top position with five games lost. Aix-Maurienne is looking forward to face Lille Metropole (#11) on the road in the next round. Pau-Lacq-Orthez will play against JL Bourg (#8) and is hoping to win this game.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Reims. Third ranked host Chalons-Reims (15-8) defeated second-ranked ALM Evreux (17-6) 81-74. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of ALM Evreux. It was an exceptional evening for power forward Kevin Corre (202-85) who led the winners and scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Angelo Tsagarakis accounted for 13 points and 6 assists. American point guard Clevin Hannah (180-87, college: Wichita St., agency: Court Side) came up with 24 points and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) for ALM Evreux in the defeat. Chalons-Reims maintains third place with 15-8 record having just three points less than leader Pau-Lacq-Orthez, which they share with Antibes and Le Portel. ALM Evreux at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. Chalons-Reims will play against SO Maritime Boulogne (#6) on the road in the next round. ALM Evreux will play against Fos Ouest (#7) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game in Bourg was also quite interesting. Sixth ranked Le Portel (15-8) played at the court of 7th ranked JL Bourg (13-10). Le Portel managed to secure a 6-point victory 78-72 on Tuesday. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of JL Bourg. The best player for the winners was Darnell Wilson who scored 22 points and 7 rebounds. Moses Sonko produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds for the hosts. JL Bourg's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Le Portel moved-up to third place, which they share with Antibes and Chalons-Reims. Loser JL Bourg dropped to the eighth position with ten games lost. Le Portel will meet at home Charleville-Mezieres (#17) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. JL Bourg will play against the league's leader Pau-Lacq-Orthez (#1) and hope to secure a win.
The game in Antibes was also worth to mention about. 4th placed SO Maritime Boulogne (14-9) played at the court of fifth ranked Olympique Antibes (15-8). Olympique Antibes managed to secure a 7-point victory 87-80. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of SO Maritime Boulogne. Lesly Bengaber orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Olympique Antibes moved-up to third place, which they share with Chalons-Reims and Le Portel. SO Maritime Boulogne at the other side dropped to the sixth position with nine games lost. Olympique Antibes' next round opponent will be Saint-Quentin (#12) on the road and are hoping to win another game. SO Maritime Boulogne will play against Chalons-Reims (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Important game to mention about took place in Toulon. Sixteenth ranked Hyeres-Toulon (8-15) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 14th ranked Denain Voltaire (7-16) 75-73 on Tuesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Denain Voltaire. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for Jared Newson who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 9 rebounds. Hyeres-Toulon moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with St Vallier. Loser Denain Voltaire dropped to the sixteenth position with 16 games lost. Hyeres-Toulon will face Saint Vallier (#14) on the road in the next round. Denain Voltaire will play against Bordeaux and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 23: Lille destroyed Charleville on the opponent's court 96-71. Bottom-ranked Bordeaux unfortunately lost to St Vallier in a home game 80-85. Nantes recorded a loss to Fos Ouest on the road 68-71. Rouen defeated St Quentin on its own court 82-78.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 24 points and 14 rebounds by Nigel Wyatte of Bordeaux.



Charleville - Lille 71-96

Very expected game when 17th ranked Charleville-Mezieres (5-18) was crushed at home by twelfth ranked Lille Metropole (11-12) 96-71 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Lille Metropole. Charleville-Mezieres was better in third quarter 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lille Metropole shot 61.3 percent from the field. It was a great evening for American Jason Siggers (188-85, college: Albany) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points and 4 assists. His fellow American import Steve Smith (200-81, college: Iona) helped adding 14 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Five Lille Metropole players scored in double figures. Lille Metropole's coach Abdourahmane N’Diaye felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Lithuanian forward Vaidotas Pridotkas (200-84) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Anthony Racine (190-94) scored 22 points. Lille Metropole have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to eleventh place. Charleville-Mezieres lost ninth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the seventeenth position with 18 games lost. Lille Metropole will face higher ranked Aix-Maurienne (#9) in Aix-les-Bains in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Charleville-Mezieres will play on the road against Le Portel (#5).

The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Bordeaux won fourth quarter 27-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening.
