There was no lack of interesting games this round. The round ended with defeat of the leader, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.
The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Pau-Lacq-Orthez (18-5) in Aix-les-Bains on Tuesday night. Visitors were edged by ninth ranked Aix-Maurienne (12-11) 76-75. There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 23: Lille destroyed Charleville on the opponent's court 96-71. Bottom-ranked Bordeaux unfortunately lost to St Vallier in a home game 80-85. Nantes recorded a loss to Fos Ouest on the road 68-71. Rouen defeated St Quentin on its own court 82-78. The most impressive stats of the last round was 24 points and 14 rebounds by Nigel Wyatte of Bordeaux.
Very expected game when 17th ranked Charleville-Mezieres (5-18) was crushed at home by twelfth ranked Lille Metropole (11-12) 96-71 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Lille Metropole. Chalons-Reims fired past Evreux on the road to open the semifinal series. It looked good early as ALM Evreux took an 5-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Chalons-Reims had a 20-13 second period charge getting the lead and ALM Evreux was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 74-80. American forward Justin Burrell (206-88, college: St.John's) nailed a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and swingman Rodrigue Mels (188-85, college: CS Northridge, agency: Three Eye Sports) accounted for 19 points. Center Garry Florimont (203-87) came up with 20 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and American point guard Clevin Hannah (180-87, college: Wichita St., agency: Court Side) added 17 points and 7 assists respectively for ALM Evreux in the defeat. Antibes made another step towards the Finals as they victoriously opened the semifinal series versus Pau-Lacq-Orthez. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 44-35 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Olympique Antibes made 25-of-31 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Pau-Lacq-Orthez turnovers. 24 personal fouls committed by Pau-Lacq-Orthez helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American swingman Anthony Hilliard (193-86, college: Elizabeth City) stepped up and scored 23 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) for the winners and Raphael Desroses (199-80, agency: Fusion Sports) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side American forward Brian Boddicker (204-81, college: Texas) responded with 20 points and 5 rebounds and David Denave (195-85) scored 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Nantes bring in Souarata Cisse (197-G/F-86) to the roster. The 27-year old naturalized Mali swingman Souarata Cisse was announced by Hermine Nantes Atlantique.
He played most recently at Hyeres-Toulon in ProA. However his team was relegated to ProB. In 28 games he averaged 8.0ppg, 1.4rpg and 1.5apg last season.

In 34 games he had 11.4ppg, 3.1rpg, 1.9apg and 1.1spg. Cisse's team won French ProA Regular Season in 2006. He represented France at the European Championships U20 in Izmir (Turkey) seven years ago. His stats at that event were 8 games: 18.4ppg, 4.4rpg, 1.9spg, 2FGP: 49.2%, 3FGP: 45.2%, FT: 72.2%. Cisse has played previously for four other France teams: Pau-Lacq-Orthez, Paris-Levallois, Blois and Centre Federal du Basket-Ball.

Gravelines: took 1st place (4-2) in Group G of the Regular Season, took 1st
place (5-1) in Group J of the Top16, lost to Krasnye Krylia (RUS) 78-81 in the
Semifinals, lost to EWE Basket (GER) 76-84 in the 3rd place game
Nancy: took 3rd place (3-3) in Group G of the Regular Season
Paris-Levallois: took 1st place (4-2) in Group E of the Regular Season, took
2nd place (4-2) in Group J of the Top16, lost to Karsiyaka (TUR) 1-2 in the
Quarterfinals !!!
