Blake Schilb claims French ProA weekly honour - Mar 5, 2013

Blake Schilb
American Blake Schilb (200-G/F-83, agency: Z.A.G. - Law Offices) had an amazing evening in the last round for Chalon and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 21.
The 29-year old swingman had the game-high 26 points adding six rebounds and four assists for Chalon in his team's victory, helping them to edge out Gravelines (#1, 15-6) in overtime 69-67. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Chalon maintains the 3rd position in French ProA. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Chalon will need more victories to improve their 13-7 record. In the team's last game Schilb had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Chalon, through which he has constantly improved. Loyola University of Chicago graduate has very impressive stats this year. Schilb is in league's top in assists (7th best: 4.9apg) and averages solid 54.8% FGP and 40.5% from behind 3-point line.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 31-year old American guard Bernard King (196-G-81) of Le Havre. King impressed basketball fans with 26 points, 3 rebounds and 9 assists. Of course Le Havre cruised to a 85-74 relatively comfortable win over slightly lower-ranked Limoges (#13, 8-12). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. But Le Havre managed to improve slightly their position in standings taking 11th place. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 9-12 record. King is a newcomer at Le Havre and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 16.3ppg (#5). He also recorded 6.9 assists per game.

The third best performed player last round was American Zach Moss (201-F-81) of Dijon (#10). Moss scored 24 points and grabbed ten rebounds. Despite Moss' great performance Dijon lost 74-83 to Orleans (10-11). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Dijon ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 11 games, recording just ten victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Moss could help Dijon to bring them higher in the standings. Moss has a very solid season. In 20 games in France he scored 10.5ppg. He also has 5.1rpg and FGP: 62.9%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Shelden Williams (206-F-83) of Chalon - 20 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Edwin Jackson (191-G-89) of ASVEL - 25 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists
6. Amadi McKenzie (201-PF-86) of Boulazac - 27 points and 7 rebounds
7. Darryl Monroe (202-C/F-86) of Boulazac - 16 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Louis Campbell (190-PG-79) of Strasbourg - 14 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists
9. Alexis Ajinca (215-C-88) of Strasbourg - 18 points and 4 rebounds
10. Pape-Philippe Amagou (185-G-85) of Roanne - 25 points and 3 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
