French ProB round 26 best performance: Sherman Gay - Mar 10, 2013

Sherman Gay
Jamaican-American power forward Sherman Gay (201-PF-82) had an amazing evening in the last round for Le Portel, receiving a Eurobasket.com ProB Player of the Week award for round 26.
The 30-year old player was the main contributor (25 points, seven rebounds and two assists) to his team's victory, helping them to crush Nantes (#14, 9-17) with 16-point margin 95-79. Le Portel maintains the 3rd position in French ProB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Le Portel will need more victories to improve their 18-8 record. Gay turned to be Le Portel's top player in his first season with the team. Sherman Gay averages this season 16.3ppg and 6.2rpg.

The second best player in last round's games was young Mouhammadou Jaiteh (206-C-94) of Boulogne. Jaiteh had a very good evening with a double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds. Of course he lead Boulogne to another comfortable win 86-70 over the higher-ranked Pau-Lacq-Orthez (#1, 20-6) being unquestionably team leader. Boulogne's 5th position in the standings has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 16-10 record is not bad and everything may still change. Jaiteh is a newcomer at Boulogne, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was American guard Darryl Hudson (195-G-85, agency: R.H.Consultancy) of Charleville (#18). Hudson scored 26 points. Despite Hudson's great performance Charleville lost 80-107 to the higher-ranked St Vallier (#15, 9-17). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Charleville can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 5-21 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Too bad for Hudson he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Hudson has a very solid season. In 2 games in France he scored 22.5ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Boris Elisabeth-Mesnager (200-F-83) of Bordeaux - 29 points and 4 rebounds
5. O'Darien Bassett (191-G-86) of Rouen - 18 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists
6. Justin Burrell (206-F-88) of Chalons-Reims - 15 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Austen Rowland (186-PG-81) of Boulogne - 13 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists
8. Anthony Hilliard (193-G/F-86) of Antibes - 23 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Antoine Mendy (198-F-83) of Pau-Lacq-Orthez - 21 points and 7 rebounds
10. Darnell Wilson (198-F-85) of Le Portel - 21 points and 5 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Clark's 31-point game gives him Player of the Week award - 5 hours ago
25-year old swingman Cameron Clark (201-G/F-91) put on an amazing game in the last round for second-ranked Chalon and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 17. He had the game-high 31 points adding seven rebounds and four assists for Chalon in his team's victory, helping them to beat Dijon (#17, 5-12) 95-83. Chalon maintains the 2nd position in French league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Chalon will need more...   [read more]

Phillips is back at London Lightning, ex Caen - 6 hours ago
London Lightning (NBL Canada) signed experienced 34-year old American power forward Marvin Phillips (201-113kg-83, college: Claflin). It is actually his comeback to London Lightning as he has played here before. Phillips played last season at Caen Basket Calvados in French NM1 league. In 37 games he had 14.8ppg, 6.1rpg, 1.4apg and 1.2spg. He helped them to make it to the semifinals. Phillips ended the previous (2014-15) season at Charleville-Mezieres (ProB) in French league where in 7 gam...   [read more]

ProA Round 17 of Regular Season - 19 hours ago
ProA is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 17 rounds left. ProA round 17 most important game was a victory of Gravelines-Dunkerque over 5th ranked Le Mans 81-71 on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by Gravelines-Dunkerque. Le Mans managed to win fourth quarter 28-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gravelines-Dunkerque made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. British forward Myles Hesson (198...   [read more]
