French ProA round 21 best performance: Justin Cobbs - Mar 8, 2017

Justin Cobbs
American Guard Justin Cobbs (191-G-91, agency: Pensack Sports) had an amazing evening in the last round for Gravelines, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 21.
The 25-year old player got a double-double of 30 points and 12 assists, while his team Gravelines moved-up to the 8th position in French ProA. Gravelines is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. But it was their 10th lost game this season out of 21 games. Cobbs turned to be Gravelines' top player in his first season with the team. Former University of California star has very solid stats this year. Cobbs is in league's top in points (4th best: 16.4ppg) and assists (4th best: 6.0apg).

The second best player in last round's games was 27-year old American Brian Conklin (198-F-89) of Nanterre. Conklin had a very good evening with 26 points and 6 rebounds. Of course he led Nanterre to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Chalons-Reims (#13, 8-13) 93-73. Nanterre's 4th position in the standings has not changed. His team's 15-6 record is not bad at all. Conklin is a newcomer at Nanterre and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Tyler Cain (203-F/C-88) of Chalons-Reims (#13). Cain scored 20 points and grabbed ten rebounds. Despite Cain's great performance Chalons-Reims lost 73-93 to the higher-ranked Nanterre (#4, 15-6). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Chalons-Reims not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 13 games, recording just eight victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Cain could try to bring Chalons-Reims' a little bit higher in the standings. Cain has a very solid season. In 21 games in France he scored 9.9ppg. He also has 6.6rpg, 1.0bpg and FGP: 54.0%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Moustapha Fall (218-C-92) of Chalon - 13 points, 16 rebounds and 2 assists
5. William Buford (196-G-90) of Limoges - 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists
6. Richard Solomon (208-F-92) of Gravelines - 17 points and 12 rebounds
7. John Roberson (180-PG-88) of Chalon - 21 points, 2 rebounds and 4 assists
8. Paul Lacombe (195-G-90) of Strasbourg - 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists
9. David Holston (168-PG-86) of Dijon - 23 points and 6 assists
10. Alain Koffi (207-C-83) of Pau-Lacq-Orthez - 19 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Review of NM1 Round 1 of Quarter-Finals - 54 minutes ago

Jerry Smith (ex Samsun) signs at Chalons-Reims - 1 day ago
Champagne Chalons-Reims Basket (ProA) landed 30-year old American point guard Jerry Smith (188-87kg-87, college: Louisville, agency: HMS). He started the season at Samsunspor DSI in Turkish TBL league. In 34 games he averaged impressive 20.1ppg, 5.0rpg, 5.0apg and 1.3spg this season. The last season Smith played at Eisbaeren Bremerhaven in German BBL where in 33 games he had 12.4ppg, 3.1rpg, 3.3apg and 1.5spg. It was a very successful season in his career as he was selected to Eurobasket....   [read more]

Joel Ayayi
Gonzaga lands their first post-Final Four commitment - 2 days ago
Gonzaga capitalized on their run to the national title game by landing a commitment from French point guard Joel Ayayi(6'4''-PG-00), who announced the news on twitter. Ayayi is an interesting long-term prospect, according to Draft Express. He has the size and the frame to eventually be a significant contributor in the college game, but he's raw. His handle needs work, as does his ability to create off the dribble and find teammates off of the bounce. That said, he's 6-foot-4 with a 6-foot...   [read more]
