Leader JL Bourg delivered the sixteenth win on Friday night. This time they beat 11th ranked SPO Rouen (10-12) 87-75. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of SPO Rouen. The game was mostly controlled by JL Bourg. SPO Rouen managed to win third quarter 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Maxime Courby (200-90) fired 26 points (perfect from downtown making all seven shots !!!) for the winners. American center Zachery Peacock (203-87, college: Georgia Tech) chipped in 23 points and 6 rebounds. JL Bourg's coach Savo Vucevic used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Icelandic Haukur Palsson (197-92, college: Maryland) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds for lost side. JL Bourg maintains first position with 16-6 record, which they share with Provence Basket. SPO Rouen at the other side keeps the eleventh place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Denain. JL Bourg is looking forward to face ALM Evreux (#6) at home in the next round where they are favorite. SPO Rouen will play against ADA Blois (#5) and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
Important game to mention about took place in Lille. Fifth ranked Lille Metropole (13-9) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 12th ranked Denain Voltaire (10-12) 75-72 on Friday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Burkinabe Jean-Victor Traore (204-85) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Deonte Burton contributed with 24 points and 4 assists for the winners. Power forward Jerome Cazenobe (203-89) replied with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds for Denain Voltaire. Denain Voltaire's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Lille Metropole moved-up to third place, which they share with Charleville. Denain Voltaire at the other side dropped to the eleventh position with 12 games lost. They share it with Rouen. Lille Metropole will play against Aix-Maurienne (#15) in Aix-les-Bains in the next round which should be an easy win for them.
