Gregg Thondique claims French NM1 weekly honour - Apr 5, 2017

Gregg
Thondique
American Gregg Thondique (201-F-87, agency: Octagon Europe) had an amazing evening in the last round for Gries/Oberhoffen and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com NM1 Player of the Week award for round 31.
The 29-year old forward had a double-double of 26 points and fourteen rebounds, while his team lost the game against St Vallier (#11, 16-15) 92-100. The game was not the highest importance and did not have significant influence on top of the standings. Gries/Oberhoffen maintains the 12th position in French NM1. Gries/Oberhoffen is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. But it was their 17th lost game this season out of 31 games. In the team's last game Thondique had a remarkable 63.6% from 2-point range. He turned to be Gries/Oberhoffen's top player in his first season with the team. Virginia Union University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Thondique leads league in rebounds with 9.9rpg. Thondique is in league's top in and averages solid 55.1% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 26-year old American forward Auston Calhoun (201-F-90, agency: HMS) of Angers BC. Calhoun impressed basketball fans with 29 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Of course he led Angers BC to another comfortable win outscoring the higher-ranked Lourdes (#7, 17-14) 96-75. This victory allowed Angers BC to move up to 14th position in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 13-18 record. Calhoun is well-known by Angers BC fans and he already established his position as one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was another Gries/Oberhoffen's star - Lithuanian Ovidijus Varanauskas (187-PG-91). Varanauskas showcased his all-around game by recording 28 points, eight rebounds and ten assists (!!!) in the last round. Despite Varanauskas' great performance Gries/Oberhoffen lost 92-100 to slightly higher-ranked St Vallier (#11, 16-15). But his team cannot count on just these two top stars as they also need help of the other teammates. The chances of Gries/Oberhoffen ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 17 games, recording just fourteen victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Varanauskas could help Gries/Oberhoffen to bring them higher in the standings. Varanauskas has a great season in France. After 19 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 5.5apg (3rd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Jesse Delhomme (189-G-85) of St Vallier - 26 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists
5. Sourata Cisse (196-F/G-86) of Orchies - 28 points and 4 assists
6. Nikola Korac (185-G-86) of Vitre - 16 points, 4 rebounds and 14 assists
7. Ludovic Vaty (206-C-88) of Lourdes - 22 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Daviin Davis (193-G/F-85) of Rennes - 22 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists
9. Mathieu Bigote (190-G-84) of Lorient - 25 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists
10. Emmanuel Monceau (195-SG-95) of Challans - 17 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Demond Watt
Watt's double-double lands him NM1 Player of the Week award - 8 minutes ago
28-year old forward Demond Watt (200-F-89) had a great game in the last round for league's best team Gries/Oberhoffen and receives a Eurobasket.com NM1 Player of the Week award for round 4. He had a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds, while his team beat Boulogne (#13, 1-3) 86-80. It allowed Gries/Oberhoffen to consolidate first place in the French NM1. Reynolds to join Gravelines, ex Buducnost - 1 hour ago
BCM Gravelines Dunkerque Grand Littoral (ProA) inked 33-year old American guard J.R. Reynolds (188-90kg-84, college: Virginia, agency: Inception Sports). It is actually his comeback to Gravelines Dunkerque as he has played here before. Reynolds played most recently at Buducnost in Montenegrin Erste Liga.
