The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked JL Bourg (18-8) on the court of fifth ranked Charleville-Mezieres on Tuesday night. Visitors were defeated by Charleville-Mezieres 79-69. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 47-36 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Charleville-Mezieres made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Icelandic guard Martin Hermannsson (190-94, college: LIU Brooklyn) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). American Wilbert Brown (200-84, college: Niagara) contributed with 18 points and 5 assists for the winners. Senegalese center Youssou Ndoye (213-91, college: St.Bonaventure) replied with 16 points and 9 rebounds for JL Bourg. JL Bourg's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Charleville-Mezieres (15-11) moved-up to fourth place. JL Bourg at the other side still keeps top position with eight games lost. They share it with Provence Basket. Charleville-Mezieres are looking forward to face bottom-ranked JA Vichy (#18) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. JL Bourg will play against Saint Chamond (#17) and is hoping to win this game.
Important game to mention about took place in Le Havre. Seventh ranked Boulazac Basket (14-12) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging one of their biggest challengers STB Le Havre (14-12) 65-64 in the fight for the fifth place. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of STB Le Havre. American power forward Jarvis Williams (198-93, college: Murray St.) scored 25 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Thomas Gipson chipped in 9 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. A very close game took place in Denain between Denain Voltaire and Aix-Maurienne. Eleventh ranked Denain Voltaire (13-13) got a very close home victory over 16th ranked Aix-Maurienne (10-16).
