Italian Bennet Cantu of Georgian basketball players Manuchar Markoishvili and Giorgi Shermadini continues surprising Europe. No one expected Bennet Cantu to go through Euroleague Top 16 though the team has a pretension to play in final.
In the third round of Top 16, the Italian team hosted Maccabi Tel Aviv on Arena Pala Desio and beat it 82:74. Georgian basketball players earned 24 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, 5 steals and 2 block-shots.

Italian Bennet Cantu of Georgian basketball players Manuchar Markoishvili and Giorgi Shermadini continues surprising Europe. No one expected Bennet Cantu to go through Euroleague Top 16 though the team has a pretension to play in final.

Markoishvili spent 28:19 minutes on the arena. He collected 11 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals. Manuchar scored 3 from 5 2 points, 1 from 4 3 points and both two free throws. He lost the ball once, received one personal foul. Three fouls were committed against him.
As for Shermadini, he played for 25:23 minutes and earned 13 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals and 2 block-shots. Georgian center scored 4 from 9 2 points and all 5 free throws. He lost the ball once and received two fouls. 5 fouls were committed against him.
Vladimir Micov of Serbia became the best player of Bennet Cantu. He earned 17 points and 9 assists. Richard Hendrix of America (Maccabi) earned 15 points and 7 rebounds.
Bennet Cantu is in the 2nd place of Group H with two victories and 1 failure. The team is one victory behind Spanish Barcelona which beat Lithuanian Zalgiris 94:80. The Italian team will hold three games in Top 16. On February 9, Bennet Cantu will visit Maccabi in Tel Aviv. On February 23, Italians will host Barcelona and on February 29, they will visit Zalgiris in Lithuania. In order to go through final, team must get in two best teams of the group. Georgian forward Viktor Sanikidze (203-F-86, agency: World Sport Agency) again put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for second-ranked CS Bologna. He received a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 19.
The 25-year old player had a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds, while his team crushed Sidigas AV (#7, 10-8) with 20-point margin 76-56. CS Bologna is placed at 2nd position in Italian SerieA [read more]

Viktor Sanikidze has solid league stats. He leads league in rebounds with 10.7rpg. Sanikidze is in league's top in and averages impressive 62.0% FGP.
