Giorgi
Tsintsadze
Eurobasket had the pleasure of sitting down with Giorgi Tsintsadze (192-G-86), Point Guard for Tartu Ulikool/Rock. We were able to speak on his thoughts of the Estonian Finals, which are now locked at 2-2 with BC Kalev Cramo, his thoughts on the Georgian National Team, of which he is the starting point guard.

EU: Giorgi, thank you for sitting down with us. You are having a brilliant year this season, Baltic League Final Four, a return to the EMKL Finals. How have you found this your 3rd year in the Estonian League?

GT: Season is really hard and with a lots of games and We are still in Final of Estonian Championship where we have hard battle against Kalev , hope to finish at high note , then will be really good season with BBL third place , where we did very well this year.

EU: How would you compare this league with your native Georgia ? You also have experience in Russia playing in both the Super league A and B. How would you compare your Estonian experience with Russia as well?

GT: I think Estonian championship getting more interesting and stronger year by year. There is couple team wich are pretty strong teams, but its hard to compare with the russian league where is so much money and so many big teams. What about Georgian league there are lots of young talents, but there is still many problems .

EU: It seems as if you have come of age since your time here in Estonia , becoming more of a floor general and an impact player not just in scoring but also in being an emotional leader and critical defender in clutch moments. How do you feel you have grown as a player since the 1st season you were here?

GT: Of course I got much expierience playing for season round 60-70 games so its good expierience for young player and right now its I think very big difference from year when I came here as a player and as a person too.

EU: The FINAL SERIES with Kalev is now locked at 2-2. What are your thoughts on finishing strong and bringing home the championship again for the 3rd year in a row? What do you need to do as a team and personally as the point guard of the team?

GT: Of course We want to win and be champions but this year will be harder comparing other years , becouse Kalev has really strong and good team , so I think that battle will be until last game and last second. As a pointguard I have to do my job to orginise team and lead the team and We have to play same defence how we did in last game.

EU: Seeing as you have put your stamp on the Estonian EMKL and on the Baltic League, being named an all star now in both leagues. What are your future plans?

GT: I don,t know my future plans , where I go to play , but where ever I go I want to play, not to sit on a bench, this is most important.

EU: Is there a possibility to see you return to Russia , or to try your wares elsewhere in European? Are there any dreams of playing in the NBA at some point?

GT: I want to go to play in some good league , in good team , does not matter if it will be Spain , Italy , Russia or other. About NBA every basketball players dream is to at least one time play there and mine too.

EU: The National Team of Georgia, is playing in the Division B this upcoming August, what thoughts do you have going into the summer with that group of guys? You have an NBA coach in Igor Kokoskov. Is there hope of qualifying to play in Turkey for the Worlds in 2010?

GT: Yes we have very important games this summer and I hope finally our team will get in division A , where I think our place is ! We have really good coach now and team is doing well , hope everything is going to this.

EU: Are there any closing thoughts for your fans here in Estonia and at home in Georgia ?

GT: I wish them Best and winning all the time !

EUROBASKET WOULD LIKE TO THANK GIORGI FOR CHATTING WITH US. WE WOULD ALSO LIKE TO WISH HIM THE BEST AS HE IS IN THE MIDST OF A HEATED BATTLED TO TAKE HOME THE ESTONIAN EMKL CHAMPIONSHIP. WE LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING GREAT THINGS FROM HIM IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE.
