Gamqrelidze
Former international guard Giorgi Gamqrelidze (183-G-86, agency: Interperformances) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for second-ranked Olympus, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 9.
The 25-year old player recorded a triple-double of 27 points and added10 rebounds and 14 assists, while his team outclassed Dinamo Tbilisi (#7, 3-5) with 33-point margin 99-66. Olympus maintains the 2nd position in Superleague. They are still close to the very top. Olympus would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 7-1 record. In the team's last game Gamqrelidze had a remarkable 76.9% from 2-point range. He turned to be Olympus' top player in his first season with the team. Giorgi Gamqrelidze has solid league stats. He is league's best passer with 8.7apg. Gamqrelidze

The second best player in last round's games was 27-year old American Larry Blair (183-G-84, agency: Pro One Sports) of MIA Tbilisi. Blair had a very good evening with 33 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Of course he lead MIA Tbilisi to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Samedicino (#9, 3-6) 105-80. This victory allowed MIA Tbilisi to move up to 5th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 4-4 record is not bad and everything may still change. Blair is a newcomer at MIA Tbilisi, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 26.0ppg (#2). His other stats are also decent: 5.3rpg and 5.7apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was former international forward Giorgi Barbakadze (203-F-91) of Kutaisi (#3). Barbakadze got into 30-points club by scoring 31 points in the last round. He went also for five rebounds . He was a key player of Kutaisi, leading his team to a 107-78 easy win against the lower-ranked STU Tbilisi (#8, 3-5). Kutaisi needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 7 victories and 2 lost games. Barbakadze has a great season in Georgia. After only 9 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 17.0ppg (8th best). He also has FGP: 71.1% and 3PT: 54.5%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Richard Matiashvili (209-C-89) of Kutaisi - 12 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists
5. Beka Bekauri (207-C-91) of Samedicino - 21 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Soso Shermadini (208-F-85) of TSU Tbilisi - 24 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists
7. Revaz Chachanidze (183-G-90) of Rustavi - 25 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists

10. Ivo Hoger (225-C-82) of Olympus - 12 points and 10 rebounds

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
