Armia - Sokhumi 79-63 (1-0)

Armia dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Sokhumi's 38. American Will Thomas (203-86, agency: Two Points) stepped up and scored 30 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and Puerto Rican Guillermo Diaz (188-85, college: Miami, FL) chipped in 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side Montenegrin center Stevan Milosevic (211-85, agency: Interperformances) responded with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and international guard Levan Patsatsia (198-88, college: Troy) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Five Armia and four Sokhumi players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.

The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-13. But Kutaisi won third quarter 25-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Montenegrin power forward Ivan Todorovic (214-84, agency: Interperformances) nailed a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side and international guard Georgi Tsintsadze (192-86) accounted for 14 points and 6 rebounds. Four Olimpi players scored in double figures. Center Richard Matiashvili (209-89) came up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds and forward Rezo Didia (203-87) added 15 points respectively for Kutaisi in the defeat.

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tbilisi: Cactus Tbilisi (#5) and Mgzavrebi (#8). Mgzavrebi was defeated at home 82-87 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 25-15 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. 27 personal fouls committed by Mgzavrebi helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Dinamo Tbilisi adds Bernard to their roster - 11 hours ago

Dinamo Tbilisi (Superleague) added to their roster American center Deion Bernard (206-95kg). He just graduated from Brewton-Parker (NAIA). Bernard has played there for the last three years. In 16 games he recorded 11.9ppg and 7.6rpg last season. He transferred to Brenton-Parker after one year playing for Keystone in NCAA D3. Former international Power forward Beka Bekauri (207-PF-91) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's second-best Kutaisi and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 8.
