We bring you last week's top performances from Georgians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

Giorgi Shermadini
Giorgi Shermadini
#1. This week's number one is an international center Giorgi Shermadini (216-89, currently plays in Israel). He led Maccabi T-A to a victory against the tenth-ranked Hapoel J-M (0-1) 88-82 in the Israeli Winner League in Sunday night's game. Shermadini recorded 12 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in a mere 15 minutes on the court. It was his first game for Maccabi T-A this season. His team is placed fourth in the Winner League. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Shermadini played for the Georgian senior national team years ago.

Quinton Hosley
Quinton Hosley
#2. Second place goes to an international swingman Quinton Hosley (201-84, college: Fresno St., currently plays in Poland). He was the major contributor in a Stelmet ZG's victory against the closely-ranked Siarka Jezioro (2-1) 92-84 in the Polish TBL last Sunday. Hosley scored 14 points, had 9 boards, passed 9 assists and added 3 steals. Stelmet Zielona Gora (3-0) is placed second in the TBL. So far his team won all three games in the Regular Season. But the season just started, so everything may happen. Hosley is currently sixth on the list of top scorers. He has individually a very good season with high stats. Hosley averages: 17.7ppg, 5.3rpg, 4.0apg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 38.5%, 3FGP: 37.5% and FT: 88.2%. He is a naturalized American. Despite Hosley played previously for the USA national team, he played also for the Georgian national team in 2012. Strangely Hosley has never played in Georgia.

Manuchar Markoishvili
Manuchar Markoishvili
#3. The Georgian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international small forward Manuchar Markoishvili (196-86, currently plays in Italy), who plays in the Italian SerieA. He could not help Cantu (2-1) in their last game. Despite Markoishvili's very good performance Cantu was edged 65-64 on the road by the leading Banco di Sardegna Sassari. He was the top scorer with 16 points. Markoishvili also added 5 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 35 minutes. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. It's Markoishvili's fourth year with the team. This season his overall stats are: 8.0ppg, 2.3rpg, 1.3apg in the three games he played so far. Markoishvili played for the Georgian national team years ago.

Melvin Sanders
Melvin Sanders
#4. Swingman Melvin Sanders (196-81, college: Oklahoma St., currently plays in Italy) contributed to an overtime Sigma Barcellona's victory against the closely-ranked Nuovo Napoli (1-1) 100-97 in the Italian Lega2 (second division) in Sunday night's game. He recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and getting 10 rebounds. Sanders also added 4 assists. Sigma Barcellona (2-0) is placed fifth in the Lega2. But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go. It's Sanders' first season with the team. He has relatively good stats this year: 11.5ppg, 8.0rpg and 3.0apg. Sanders is a naturalized American. Despite he played previously for the USA national team, Sanders is currently in the Georgian national team roster. Apparently he has never played in Georgia.

Corey Fisher
Corey Fisher
#5. International point guard Corey Fisher (186-88, college: Villanova, currently plays in Spain) contributed to a FIATC Joventut's victory against the 14th-ranked Assignia Manresa (0-3) 83-71 in the Spanish ACB last Sunday. Fisher scored 11 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 24 minutes. FIATC Joventut Badalona (2-1) is placed eighth in the ACB. . This year Fisher has relatively solid stats: 11.5ppg, 3.0rpg and 1.5apg in the two games. He is a naturalized American. Despite Fisher played previously for the USA university national team, he is currently in the Georgian national team roster. Interesting that Fisher has never played in Georgia.

He recorded only 2 points. It was his first game for Karsiyaka this season. His team is placed sixth in the TBL. . Thomas is a naturalized American. Jacob Pullen
#9. International point guard Jacob Pullen (183-89, college: Kansas St., currently plays in Israel) faced previously mentioned Giorgi Shermadini in the Israeli Winner League last game. Pullen, who plays in the Israeli Winner League was not able to help Hapoel J-M (0-1) in their last game. Despite his good performance Hapoel J-M lost 82-88 in Tel-Aviv to the higher-ranked (#4) Maccabi T-A. Pullen recorded 14 points and added 4 assists in 35 minutes. It was his first game for Hapoel J-M this season; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his second season in pro basketball.. Pullen is a naturalized American. Despite he played previously for the USA national team, Pullen is currently in the Georgian national team roster. However he has never played in Georgia.

Georges Mdivani
Georges Mdivani

Center Georges Mdivani (204-85, agency: Promotex, currently plays in France) was not able to secure a victory for Rueil (1-2) in their game against Vendee Challans (1-3) in the French NM1 (third division). Mdivani recorded 8 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Rueil was badly defeated 92-74 in Challans by the lower-ranked Vendee (#11). . Mdivani's total stats this season are: 8.0ppg and 7.5rpg. Atuashvili cannot count Wednesday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only 2 points in 9 minutes on the court. His team lost 63-72. This year Atuashvili's total stats are: 4.3ppg, 3.7rpg and 1.3apg in the three games. He used to play for the Georgian U20 national team seven years ago.

The Regular Season in Superleague is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 4 rounds. The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tbilisi: Olimpi (#7) and Mgzavrebi (#8). Mgzavrebi was defeated at home 73-79 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Mgzavrebi. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 26-1...   [read more]
