Richard
Matiashvili
International center Richard Matiashvili (207-C-89) had an amazing evening in the last round for second-ranked Kutaisi, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 6.
The 23-year old player had a double-double of 31 points and 17 rebounds, while his team crushed Olimpi (#5, 4-1) with 16-point margin 97-81. Kutaisi is placed at 2nd position in Georgian Superleague. They are still close to the very top. Kutaisi would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 5-1 record. In the team's last game Matiashvili had a remarkable four three-pointers out of 6 attempts. It's his second year at Kutaisi and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Richard Matiashvili has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (3rd best: 19.7ppg), rebounds (3rd best: 11.7rpg) and averages impressive 1.3bpg.

The second best player in last round's games was 23-year old Vakhtang Kadaria (205-C-89) of Sokhumi. Kadaria had a very good evening with a double-double of 21 points and 13 rebounds. Bad luck as Sokhumi lost that game 65-87 to the higher-ranked Rustavi (#3, 5-1). This loss caused Sokhumi to drop to 10th position in the standings. 5 lost games are too many considering they did not win any game. Kadaria is well-known at Sokhumi and is a proven leader in his second season with the team.

Third on the list of top players last round was American center Kirk Archibeque (205-C-84) of league's top team MIA Academy. Archibeque scored 21 points and grabbed thirteen rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of MIA Academy, leading his team to a 80-69 win against #4 ranked Armia in a game of the week. MIA Academy started extremely well this year. They recorded 6 victories without losing a single game. Archibeque turns to be one of the very best players in the league while he is also a leader of the top team having his eyes on the championship title. Archibeque has a great season in Georgia. After only 5 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 22.2ppg (best scorer) and rebounds with 11.8rpg (2nd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Stevan Milosevic (211-C-85) of Olimpi - 17 points and 13 rebounds
5. Deonta Vaughn (185-PG-86) of MIA Academy - 21 points, 3 rebounds and 10 assists
6. Flynn Clayman (206-F-88) of Dinamo Tbilisi - 24 points and 10 rebounds
7. Beqa Chikviladze (195-G-91) of Dinamo Tbilisi - 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists
8. Givi Bakradze (185-PG-91) of TSU Tbilisi - 18 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists
9. Serzhi Aselaini) of TSU Tbilisi - 20 points and 7 rebounds
10. Lasha Keshelava (200-F-81) of Batumi - 17 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Dinamo Leads the Final Series 2:0 - 1 hour ago
The second game of the Final Series was played today between Dinamo and Kutaisi. This time Dinamo defeated Kurtaisi without any difficulties and leads the series 2:0. Yesterday was a bad day for Dinamo on the court, as they had the hardest time shooting from the distance, but today it was all vice-versa: they were more solid in every aspect of the game   [read more]
Rustavi Is the 3rd Place Holder - 1 hour ago
The 3rd place holder of the Superleague 2017 is Rustavi. They defeated Cactus 93:85 and got the hit. The fate of the game was decided in the last period, but until then it was an equal game, changing the lead back and forth. In the 3rd period Rustavi managed to skip the difference in the score, as Cactus dominated before. They wasted the advantage and Rustavi played a more solid defensive style. Briggs, Atuashvili, Chachanidze and Lee were constructive on the court and did a 13:0 runaway...   [read more]
