In the fourth round of 16 Top of Euroleague Viktor Sanikidzes Montepaschi beat Giorgi Shermadinis Olimpicos 74:72, as for Georgian basketball players they did quite well.
According to the coefficient, Shermadini was the best among the hosts, as for Sanikidze he had the second result in his team.
It is pleasant that Shermadini appeared in the start five first time after going through the current champion of Euro League and he satisfied expectations of the head coach. Georgian
centre played for 14:06 minutes and gained 9 points, 7 rebounds, 1 block shot and 3 turnovers.
Shermadini scored all the three two-point kicks and 3 penalty kicks form 4, he did not make any mistake. His coefficient was 21 and was the first in the club.
As for Sanikidze, this time he was not in the start five, he was very close to double double. Viktor played for 20:51 minutes and scored 2 two-point kicks from 5, 1 three point kick
from 2 and 2 penalty kicks from 5, he had 9 points, 8 rebounds and 1 turnover. Georgian forward gained two personal fouls, opponents gained 5 fouls against him. Sanikidzes
coefficient was 14.
It is remarkable that Montepaschi won the fourth match in a row in top 16 and with unbeatable Caja Laboral it is also leader. Olimpiacos which as only one victory and three
failures it in the fifth position. The next round is held on Janaury 24-25. Olimpiacos will host Maccabi Tel Aviv and as for Montepaschi, it is host Beshiktash on Janaury 25. Viktor Sanikidze (203-SF-86)   




Mgzavrebi lands Deron Powers - 21 hours ago
Mgzavrebi-Armia Tbilisi (Superleague) landed 25-year old American guard Deron Powers (183-77kg-92). He just graduated from Hofstra (NCAA). In 32 games he averaged 13.0ppg, 2.3rpg and 5.2apg last season. As mentioned above Powers is just out of the college and it will be his first season in pro basketball. Among other achievements his college team won MEAC Tournament in 2015. Powers received also All-MEAC 3rd Team award in 2015. Rustavi adds Cooper to their roster, ex KW Titans - 3 days ago
BC Rustavi 1991 (Superleague) added to their roster American forward Paul Cooper (203-119kg, college: Arkansas Tech). He played last season at KW Titans in Canadian NBL, but was released by the team in Mar.'17. In 24 NBL Canada games he recorded 8.3ppg, 6.1rpg and 1.1apg. Part of previous (2016) summer Cooper spent at Atletico Tabare in Uruguayan Ascenso where in 5 games he averaged 12.8ppg, 11.0rpg, 1.0spg and 1.0bpg in 2016 season. Rustavi inks Brian Bernardi, ex NH Ostrava - 4 days ago
BC Rustavi 1991 (Superleague) signed 23-year old American guard Brian Bernardi (188-88kg-94, college: Hofstra, agency: Mansfield and Associates). He already started the season at NH Ostrava in NBL league in Czech Republic. In three games he had 8.0ppg, 2.0rpg and 1.3apg this season.
