Matiashvili
International center Richard Matiashvili (207-C-89) had an amazing evening in the last round for Kutaisi and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 16.
The 23-year old center had a double-double of 30 points and eighteen rebounds, while his team beat Batumi (#9, 3-12) 82-73. Kutaisi maintains the 6th position in Georgian Superleague. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Kutaisi will need more victories to improve their 9-6 record. It's Matiashvili's second year at Kutaisi and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Matiashvili has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (2nd best: 21.3ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 12.6rpg) and averages solid 1.8bpg and 51.3% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 22-year old international power forward Akaki Dvalishvili (206-PF-90) of Olimpi. Dvalishvili impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 21 points and 16 rebounds. Of course he lead Olimpi to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Samedicino (#10, 1-13) 110-63. This victory allowed Olimpi to move up to 3rd position in the standings. His team lost just two games this season, while they won 12 matches. Dvalishvili is a newcomer at Olimpi and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was American Benjamin Raymond (198-G/F-87, agency: KMG Sports Management) of top-ranked MIA Academy. Raymond showcased his all-around game by recording 25 points, eleven rebounds (!!!) and four assists in the last round. He was a key player of MIA Academy, leading his team to a 78-59 easy win against STU Tbilisi (#11, 0-15). MIA Academy confirms their top position in the standings Raymond has a very solid season. In 5 games in Georgia he scored 11.8ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Sergo Atvashovili (223-C-85) of Sokhumi - 18 points, 17 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Nate Bowie (183-G-86) of Rustavi - 25 points, 3 rebounds and 7 assists
6. Mikheil Berishvili (205-F-87) of Olimpi - 25 points, 15 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Lasha Keshelava (200-F-81) of Batumi - 29 points and 9 rebounds
8. Lasha Parghalava (191-G-87) of Armia - 24 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Serzhi Aselaini (198-F-91) of TSU Tbilisi - 13 points and 12 rebounds
10. Levan Fatsatsia (198-F-88) of Olimpi - 22 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
