The most exciting game of round 14 in the Superleague took place in Tbilisi. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 4th ranked Batumi (6-8) to seventh ranked Olimpi (4-9) 83-82 on Thursday evening. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Olimpi forced 21 Batumi turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The former international guard Revaz Rogava (191-93) scored 20 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and guard Gegi Baqradze (203-94) chipped in 18 points and 6 assists during the contest. Ukrainian point guard Illya Shemosiuk (188-85) responded with 29 points and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Olimpi maintains seventh position with 4-9 record. Batumi lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Cactus Tbilisi and Sokhumi. Olimpi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Dinamo Tbilisi.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Tbilisi: Sokhumi (#5) and Mgzavrebi (#8). Sokhumi (6-8) won against visiting Mgzavrebi (1-13) 93-81. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Mgzavrebi. Naturalized Azerbaijani forward Davit Barbakadze (203-82) notched 34 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 5 assists (perfect from downtown making all six shots !!!) to lead the effort and Dmytro Zabirchenko supported him with 6 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. Sokhumi's coach Nugzar Cheishvili allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 19 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists by American point guard Kaheem Ransom (185, college: Sam Houston St.) did not help to save the game for Mgzavrebi. Sokhumi moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Cactus Tbilisi and Batumi. Mgzavrebi at the other side stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost. Sokhumi will play against higher ranked Energy Invest (#3) in Rustavi in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Mgzavrebi will play at home against Batumi (#4) to get more than just one victory in their record.

Rustavi - Cactus Tbilisi 75-94

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Energy Invest (8-6) against sixth ranked Cactus Tbilisi (6-8) on Sunday night. Host Energy Invest was crushed by Cactus Tbilisi in Rustavi 94-75. The game was mostly controlled by Cactus Tbilisi. Energy Invest managed to win fourth quarter 24-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Energy Invest 40-26 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American guard Tyler White (190-93, college: N.Kentucky) who scored 24 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. The other American import guard Terik Bridgeman (198, college: William Pater.) chipped in 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks. Five Cactus Tbilisi players scored in double figures. American guard Casey Kasperbauer (185, college: S.Dakota, agency: SDJ Sports) produced 23 points and center Sergo Atuashvili (223-85) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cactus Tbilisi moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Batumi and Sokhumi. Sokhumi - Mgzavrebi 93-81

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Tbilisi: Sokhumi (#5) and Mgzavrebi (#8). Sokhumi (6-8) won against visiting Mgzavrebi (1-13) 93-81. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Mgzavrebi. It looked good early as Mgzavrebi took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Sokhumi had a 21-18 second period charge getting the lead and Mgzavrebi was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 81-93. Sokhumi made 26-of-32 charity shots (81.3 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Mgzavrebi was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The game between Top Four teams took place in Tbilisi. Top-ranked host Dinamo Tbilisi (14-0) defeated second-ranked Kutaisi (10-3) 92-75. The game was mostly controlled by Dinamo Tbilisi.
