A League Round 1: Hyundai-TSU defeat SEU Tbilisi - Feb 1, 2017

The Regular Season in A League just started.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of SEU Tbilisi (0-1) at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were rolled over by Hyundai-TSU (1-0) 85-60. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Hyundai-TSU forced 19 SEU Tbilisi turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of South African center Christopher Gabriel (210-88, college: San Diego) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. point guard Sandro Sanadze (188-95) contributed with 16 points for the winners. American point guard Jamal Wilson (195-90, college: Rhode Island) answered with 20 points and 7 rebounds for SEU Tbilisi. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hyundai-TSU is looking forward to face DELTA in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. SEU Tbilisi will play against BC Titebi and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
Another exciting game for DELTA (1-0) which played on the court of Arena-76 (0-1). DELTA won 74-68. American center Laron Griffin (205-89, college: E.Washington) stepped up and scored 8 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners and Zviad Antadze chipped in 18 points. At the losing side Ukrainian power forward Oleksandr Rychlyuk (208-84) responded with 8 points and 20 rebounds. DELTA will play against Hyundai-TSU (#3) in Tbilisi in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Arena-76 will play at home against Tskaltubo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An interesting game was also tough home loss of Tskaltubo in a game versus BC Titebi (#2) 76-73. Tskaltubo was very close to get their first win. But it seems they have to wait a little bit longer. American players dominated the game. Armani Flannigan nailed 22 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. BC Titebi's coach Amrosi Ormotsadze used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Travante Williams came up with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds for Tskaltubo in the defeat. BC Titebi will meet at home SEU Tbilisi (#5) in the next round. Tskaltubo will play against Arena-76 and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

SEU Tbilisi - Hyundai-TSU 60-85

Another exciting game for DELTA (1-0) which played on the court of Arena-76 (0-1). DELTA won 74-68. Arena-76 was ahead by 3 points at the halftime before a 38-29 second half run of DELTA. DELTA shot 23 for 32 from the free-throw line, while Arena-76 only scored five points from the stripe. DELTA forced 20 Arena-76 turnovers. Arena-76 was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American center Laron Griffin (205-89, college: E.Washington) stepped up and scored 8 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners and forward Zviad Antadze (198-88, college: Monroe Coll.) chipped in 18 points. At the losing side Ukrainian power forward Oleksandr Rychlyuk (208-84) responded with 8 points and 20 rebounds and American guard Rodnerius Lewis (193-93, college: Stillman) scored 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Tskaltubo - BC Titebi 73-76

An interesting game was also tough home loss of Tskaltubo in a game versus BC Titebi (#2) 76-73. Tskaltubo was very close to get their first win. But it seems they have to wait a little bit longer. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-16. But Tskaltubo won fourth quarter 23-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BC Titebi dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Tskaltubo's 34. American players dominated the game. Forward Armani Flannigan (203-92, college: N.Texas) nailed 22 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and guard Ryan Aaron (190-91, college: S.Nazarene) accounted for 26 points and 6 rebounds. BC Titebi's coach Amrosi Ormotsadze used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Travante Williams (197-93, college: Alaska-Fairb., agency: Duran International) came up with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Brian Blackmon (188-89, college: Martin Methodist) added 25 points respectively for Tskaltubo in the defeat.
