Peter Alexis
American Power forward Peter Alexis (213-F/C-92) had a very impressive game in the last round for Arena-76, receiving a Eurobasket.com A League Player of the Week award for round 10.
The 24-year old player had a double-double of 20 points and 13 rebounds, while his team beat BC Titebi (#5, 4-6) 93-88. Arena-76 maintains the 3rd position in Georgian A League. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Arena-76 will need more victories to improve their 6-4 record. Alexis just recently signed at Arena-76, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Former Philadelphia University star has very solid stats this year. Alexis is in league's top in points (5th best: 17.2ppg), rebounds (3rd best: 10.5rpg) and averages impressive 1.1bpg and 57.9% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was another Arena-76's star - 23-year old American Rodnerius Lewis (193-G-93). Lewis had a very good evening with 31 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists. It was enough for Arena-76 to edge slightly lower-ranked BC Titebi (#5, 4-6) 93-88. Arena-76's 3rd position in the standings has not changed. His team's 6-4 record is not bad at all. Lewis is a newcomer at Arena-76, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.1ppg (#3). His other stats are also decent: 6.1rpg and 4.1apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was guard Sandro Sanadze (188-PG-95) of league's second-best Hyundai-TSU. Sanadze scored 28 points and passed four assists. He was a key player of Hyundai-TSU, leading his team to a 95-66 easy win against #4 ranked Tskaltubo in a game of the week. Hyundai-TSU needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 7 victories and 3 lost games. Sanadze has a great season in Georgia. After 10 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 15.6ppg (8th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Malkhazi Abaishvili (183-PG-91) of Arena-76 - 21 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists
5. Christopher Anderson (170-PG-92) of Hyundai-TSU - 16 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists
6. Kelvin Downs (206-F) of DELTA - 13 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Irakli Alkhanaidze (202-F-92) of DELTA - 18 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Christopher Gabriel (210-C-88) of Hyundai-TSU - 14 points and 12 rebounds
9. Archili Puluzashvili (204-C-95) of BC Titebi - 17 points and 7 rebounds
10. Deondre Ray (196-SF) of DELTA - 15 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

We bring you last week's top performances from Georgians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level. This week's number one is an international forward Tornike Shengelia (206-91). He could not help Baskonia (17-13) in their last game. Despite Shengelia's very good performance Baskonia was edged 90-88 at home by the second-ranked CSKA.    [read more]

Delta clinch A League title, gain promotion - 17 hours ago
The Regular Season in A League just ended. The game between third ranked Arena-76 (8-7) and fourth ranked BC Titebi (8-7) was the most important one in the last round on Tuesday night. Arena-76 was defeated by BC Titebi in a tough game at home 91-97. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-14. But Arena-76 won third quarter 31-19.
