Peter Alexis
American Power forward Peter Alexis (213-F/C-92) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Arena-76, receiving a Eurobasket.com A League Player of the Week award for round 13.
The 24-year old player had a double-double of 30 points and 16 rebounds, while his team outclassed, the league's bottom-ranked team SEU Tbilisi (#6, 0-13) with 47-point margin 124-77. Arena-76 maintains the 3rd position in Georgian A League. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Arena-76 will need more victories to improve their 8-5 record. Alexis just recently signed at Arena-76, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Former Philadelphia University star has very solid stats this year. Alexis is in league's top in points (5th best: 18.7ppg), rebounds (3rd best: 10.6rpg) and averages impressive 1.1bpg and 62.1% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was 26-year old Davit Maisuradze (205-C/F-90) of SEU Tbilisi. Maisuradze had a very good evening with a double-double of 30 points and 17 rebounds. Bad luck as SEU Tbilisi lost that game 77-124 to the higher-ranked Arena-76 (#3, 8-5). SEU Tbilisi are still at the very bottom. 13 lost games are too many considering they did not win any game. Maisuradze is a newcomer at SEU Tbilisi, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Armani Flannigan (203-F-92) of BC Titebi (#4). Flannigan scored 22 points and grabbed ten rebounds. He was a key player of BC Titebi, leading his team to a 81-65 easy win against #2 ranked Hyundai-TSU in a game of the week. BC Titebi needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 7 victories and 6 lost games. Flannigan has a great season in Georgia. After 13 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 16.7ppg (6th best) and rebounds with 10.9rpg (2nd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Deondre Ray (196-SF) of DELTA - 22 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Dmitry Sviridov (212-C-85) of Tskaltubo - 11 points, 14 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Tato Chachibaia (201-F-90) of Arena-76 - 20 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Rodnerius Lewis (193-G-93) of Arena-76 - 11 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists
8. Ryan Aaron (190-G-91) of BC Titebi - 23 points and 9 rebounds
9. Christopher Gabriel (210-C-88) of Hyundai-TSU - 18 points and 14 rebounds
10. Oleksandr Rychlyuk (208-F/C-84) of Arena-76 - 10 points and 10 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

We bring you last week's top performances from Georgians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level. This week's number one is an international forward Tornike Shengelia (206-91). He could not help Baskonia (17-13) in their last game. Despite Shengelia's very good performance Baskonia was edged 90-88 at home by the second-ranked CSKA.    [read more]

Delta clinch A League title, gain promotion - 17 hours ago
The Regular Season in A League just ended. The game between third ranked Arena-76 (8-7) and fourth ranked BC Titebi (8-7) was the most important one in the last round on Tuesday night. Arena-76 was defeated by BC Titebi in a tough game at home 91-97. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-14. But Arena-76 won third quarter 31-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BC Titebi made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the...   [read more]
