Heidelberg - Bad Aibling 48-76

Bad Aibling rallied past Heidelberg on the road and swept the South Finals. The game was mostly controlled by Fireballs. BasCats Heidelberg was better in fourth quarter 12-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Fireballs held BasCats Heidelberg to an opponent 23.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 49.1 percent accuracy of the winners and made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Fireballs outrebounded BasCats Heidelberg 46-34 including a 36-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Fireballs brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. American guard Lindsay Sherbert (184, college: Gonzaga) notched a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international power forward Christina Schnorr (185-92) supported her with 17 points. Even 22 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists by American point guard Serena Benavente (167-85, college: St.Mary's, CA) did not help to save the game for BasCats Heidelberg. Point guard Sara Kranzhoefer (180-96) added 4 points and 7 rebounds for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
