BBC Bayreuth will be starting their third season in hte Beko BBL after a long stay in the second bundesliga this season and one thing that they have done well the last few years was hauling in big men. Two seasons ago it was ex NBA player Jared Reiner, last season the spunky and physical ex Boston Celtic Brandon Hunter and today they announced the signing of athletic Jason Cain (208-F-85, college: Virginia) who can play forward as well as center and is the second new signing. BBC Bayreuth finally released Cain from Northern Germany as he had played in Braunschweig and Bremerhaven the last 5 years. Cain is a 27 year old 208cm player from Philadelphia that played in Bremerhaven last year playing 32 games and avergaing 9,3ppg, 4,1rpg and 1,0apg. 'Jason has very much experience in the Beko BBL and can play the positions 4 and 5. That makes him very flexibel for us and I have a good feeling about him since he wanted to come to Bayreuth. He is very motivated and fits well to the team with his charachter. He is agood puzzle piece for a hopefully successful team', warned BBC Bayreuth head coach Marco Van Den Berg.

Cain played at
Virginia (NCAA) and in his senior year played 32 games: 6.8ppg, 6.3rpg, FGP: 47.9%, 3Pts: 12.5%, FT: 73.2%. He came to Germany in 2007-2008 and already quickly showed tat he could play at the beko BBL level as he In Sep. signed a temporary contract with New Yorker Phantoms Braunschweig (Germany-1.Bundesliga) to replace injured Peter Fehse, then stayed for the rest of season: 31 games: 5.8ppg, 4.3rpg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 62.3%, 3PT: 25.0%, FT: 58.4%. His best season with Braunscweig was 2009-2010 as he played 40 games: 10.2ppg, 5.4rpg, 1.1apg, FGP: 62.9%, 3PT: 38.9%, FT: 72.6%. He reached the Beko BBL playoffs twice and played a total of 142 games for the Phantoms. Awards/Achievements in his basketball career have been HS Most Valuable Player of the Philadelphia Public League championship game, earned first-team All-City honors and was the MVP of the Public League All-Star Game -05, ACC Regular Season Runner-Up -07, German Bundesliga Semifinals -10, and German Bundesliga Cup Finalist -11
