Germany advanced into the final of Adidas Istanbul Cup. They knocked down Iran to book the place in the title game. Robin Benzing (208-F-89) scored 15 points to lead the European team.
Germany jumped into a 24;12 lead after ten minutes. They maintained the lead throughout the second quarter. Germany posted a 35:21 halftime advantage. Iran failed to recover after the big break. Germany stretched the gap to as many as 19 points with ten minutes remaining. Germany triggered a 20:10 run in the final quarter and sealed the victory at the end. Maik Zirbes (205-C-90) notched 14 points, while Tibor Pleiss (214-F/C-89) added 10 points for the winners. Asghar Kardoust (212-C-86) responded with 13 points for Iran. Mousa Nabipour (213-C-83) had 7 points in the loss.

2013 Beko BBL playoff candidate Phoenix Hagen coninue to build for the future and after keeping the coaching staff, Ole Wendt Larry Gordon, David Bell and Mark Dorris, the club announced today that Dino Gregory (200-F-89, agency: Two Points, college: Maryland) will also remain in Hagen. Gregory is a 23 year old 200cm forward that completed his second professional season with Phoenix Hagen playing 37 games and averaging 7,0ppg and 6,3rpg. Jens Hirschberg (200-F-88) is set to join 2. Bundesliga Pro B SC Rist Wedel for the 2013-14 season. Hirschberg averaged 6.9 points and 3.4 rebounds for Licher Basket Baeren last season. He will add some Pro A experience to the roster as he appeared in 58 Pro A contests for Heidelberg until 2010.
