Germany celebrated the second straight win at the 2013 EuroBasket Qualifying Round. They knocked down Bulgaria in Sofia to improve at 2-0 record in Group B. Bulgaria in the meantime suffered the second straight loss and slipped at 1-2. Jan-Hendrik Jagla (211-PF-81, college: Penn St.) came up with 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the visitors.
Germany opened the game with seven points in a row. They soon opened a double-digit lead but Cedric Simmons (206-F/C-86, college: N.Carolina St.) capped the frame with a three-pointer to put Bulgaria within 8 points 14:22. Lucca Staiger (195-SG-88, college: Iowa St.) and Jan-Hendrik Jagla gave Germany a 30:16 lead early in the second frame. The hosts crowned the half with five points in a row to narrow the gap at 13-point mark 28:41. Germany maintained the lead well throughout the third term. They arrived at the final intermission up by 8 points 58:50. Chavdar Kostov (195-SG-88, agency: Interperformances) and Avramov put the home team within six points but Germany quickly restored a 12-point lead and never looked back en route to the victory. Per Guenther (185-G-88) provided 16 points, while Lucca Staiger and Heiko Schaffartzik (183-PG-84) had 12 points each for the winners. Chester Cedric Simmons answered with 21 points and 9 boards for Bulgaria. Chavdar Kostov netted 11 points in the loss.

Ty Shaw not to renew his contract as Langen coach - May 19, 2013

Ty Shaw will not renew his contract as head coach of TV Langen, the 2. Bundesliga Pro B team announced. The organization had not been able to give Shaw the economic perspective that he had wished for, Langen manager Juergen Barth said on the team's website. In his first year as a head coach, the American led the Giraffes to a Pro B playoff semifinal appearance and to a 14-8 record in regular season.
