Round 3 means everything may happen in BBL as the season just started. The round was rather attractive and full of interesting results. The round ended with loss of the undefeated team, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Telekom Baskets (1-1) in Bonn on Wednesday night. Hosts were defeated by BBC Bayreuth (3-0) 78-70. The guests trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 29-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. 27 personal fouls committed by Telekom Baskets helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Italian-American forward Joe Trapani (203-88, college: Boston Coll.) who scored 19 points and 8 rebounds. American center Gary McGhee (208-88, college: Pittsburgh) chipped in 11 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Jared Jordan (188-84, college: Marist) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. BBC Bayreuth have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 3-0 record. Telekom Baskets at the other side dropped to the eighth position with one game lost. They share it with TBB Trier and EWE Baskets. BBC Bayreuth are looking forward to face EnBW Ludwigsburg (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Telekom Baskets will play against New Yorker Phantoms (#14) in Braunschweig and are hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
Important game to mention about took place in Muenchen. Sixteenth ranked Artland Dragons (1-2) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging higher ranked Bayern Muenchen (1-2) 87-85 in the fight for the eleventh place. It was a good game for American guard Marquez Haynes (191-86, college: Texas Arlington) who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 4 assists. Anthony King contributed with 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American-Bulgarian center Jared Homan (206-83, college: Iowa St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for Bayern Muenchen. Bayern Muenchen's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Artland Dragons left bottom position moving up to eleventh place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Bayern Muenchen. Artland Dragons will play against league's second-placed Brose Baskets in Bamberg in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bayern Muenchen will play on the road against Mitteldeutscher BC (#13) in Weissenfels and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
A very close game took place in Frankfurt between Mitteldeutscher BC and Deutsche Bank Skyliners. Seventeenth ranked Mitteldeutscher BC (1-2) got a very close victory on the road over higher ranked Deutsche Bank Skyliners (1-2). Mitteldeutscher BC managed to escape with a 3-point win 71-68 in the fight for the eleventh place. The game was dominated by American players. It was a great evening for Morris Curry who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was Zachery Peacock with 24 points and 9 rebounds. Mitteldeutscher BC left bottom position moving up to eleventh place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Deutsche Bank Skyliners. Mitteldeutscher BC will meet at home Bayern Muenchen (#11) in the next round. Deutsche Bank Skyliners will play against TBB Trier and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
We should mention about the upset which took place in Hagen, where higher ranked New Yorker Phantoms (1-2) lost to thirteenth ranked Phoenix Hagen (2-1) in a road game 78-89. It was an exceptional evening for Larry Gordon who led the winners and scored 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest.
