Round 3 means everything may happen in BBL as the season just started. The round was rather attractive and full of interesting results. The round ended with loss of the undefeated team, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Telekom Baskets (1-1) in Bonn on Wednesday night. Hosts were defeated by BBC Bayreuth (3-0) 78-70. The guests trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 29-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. 27 personal fouls committed by Telekom Baskets helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Italian-American forward Joe Trapani (203-88, college: Boston Coll.) who scored 19 points and 8 rebounds. American center Gary McGhee (208-88, college: Pittsburgh) chipped in 11 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Jared Jordan (188-84, college: Marist) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. BBC Bayreuth have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 3-0 record. Telekom Baskets at the other side dropped to the eighth position with one game lost. They share it with TBB Trier and EWE Baskets. BBC Bayreuth are looking forward to face EnBW Ludwigsburg (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. LTi 46ers will play against Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (#18).

In the last game of round 3 Ratiopharm defeated Bremerhaven in Ulm 88-82.
