German DBBL round 6 best performance: Yadira Francis - Nov 5, 2012

Yadira
Francis
Cuban forward Yadira Francis (186-F-85) had an amazing evening in the last round for second-ranked Heli Girls, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 6.
The 27-year old player had a double-double of 25 points and 14 rebounds, while her team beat Marburg (#7, 3-3) 67-53. Heli Girls maintains the 2nd position in German DBBL. They are still close to the very top. Heli Girls would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 5-1 record. It was one of impressive evenings for Francis as usually she does not deliver so high stats. Yadira Francis averages this season 9.0ppg and 5.5rpg.

The second best player in last round's games was 23-year old American Teya Wright (185-F-89) of Herner. Wright had a very good evening with a double-double of 26 points and 13 rebounds. Of course Herner cruised to a 94-83 relatively comfortable win over the higher-ranked BG 89 Avides (#5, 4-2). This victory allowed Herner to leave bottom place moving a little bit up to 10th position in the standings. 5 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Herner managed to get this year. Wright is a newcomer at Herner, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was another Herner's star - Tongan swingman Ofa Tulikihihifo (180-G/F-84). Tulikihihifo scored 28 points. She was another key player of Herner, helping her team with a 94-83 win against the higher-ranked BG 89 Avides (#5, 4-2). Herner can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 1-5 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Tulikihihifo she does not play for a better team. But maybe if she did, her season stats would not be that high. Tulikihihifo has a very solid season. In 6 games in Germany she scored 13.2ppg. She also has 4.7rpg and FGP: 52.6%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Anne Breitreiner (183-G/F-84) of Wasserburg - 36 points and 2 rebounds
5. Angela Pace (178-G-87) of Osnabruck - 17 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists
6. Emma Cannon (188-F-89) of Wasserburg - 23 points and 11 rebounds
7. Anya Covington (187-F-90) of Rhein MB - 20 points and 11 rebounds
8. Vanessa House (170-G-88) of BG 89 Avides - 23 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Valerie Nainima (165-G-86) of Oberhausen - 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Jasmine Byrd (173-G-85) of Osnabruck - 22 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

German DBBL round 5 best performance: Khadijah Shumpert - 1 day ago
American Power forward Khadijah Shumpert (188-F/C-93) had a very impressive game in the last round for Halle, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 5. The 24-year old player had a double-double of 33 points and 13 rebounds, while her team Halle moved-up to the 10th position in German DBBL. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such low. They already lost 4 games and recorded just one victory. Shumpert turned to be Halle's top player in her first s...   [read more]

Wolfpack parts ways with Raus - 2 days ago
Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel announced on Saturday that Christian Raus won't be any longer the Headcoach. Raus' first year as headcoach of a womens team seemed not to work for both parties as they decided to part ways. Currently will take over Frank Lagerpusch, assisted by Ruediger Jacob until a new coach has been found. Jacob has assisted the past few years and knows the team. Under the new coaching duo the Wolfpack won their first game this Sunday against Bender Baskets Grunberg.   [read more]
