The game between third ranked Rotenburg/Scheessel (4-3) and fourth ranked Osnabruck (5-2) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Rotenburg/Scheessel was defeated by Osnabruck in a tough game in Osnabruck 91-95. They dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Rotenburg/Scheessel's 46. Osnabruck forced 21 Rotenburg/Scheessel turnovers. The game was dominated by American players. Forward Ali Schwagmeyer (180-90, college: Quincy, agency: Gamble Sports Management) fired a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Guard Jasmine Byrd (173-85, college: NC-Greensboro) chipped in 26 points. Power forward Samantha Meissel (188-88, college: Indianapolis) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds for lost side. Osnabruck have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place. Rotenburg/Scheessel at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Osnabruck are looking forward to face Wildcats Wolfenbuettel (#4) on the road in the next round. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Emma Cannon (188-89, college: Cent.Florida) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. Anne Breitreiner contributed with 19 points for the winners. Canadian forward Tamara Tatham (185-85, college: Massachusetts) answered with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for SV Halle Lions. TSV 1880 Wasserburg have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 6-1 record, which they share with Heli Girls. SV Halle Lions at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. TSV 1880 Wasserburg will play against Eisvogel Freiburg (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. SV Halle Lions will play against Rhein Main Baskets (#9) in Langen and hope to get back on the winning track.
Bottom-ranked Don Bosco Bamberg (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 79-73 loss to seventh ranked BC Pharmaserv Marburg (4-3) in Bamberg on Saturday evening. It was a great evening for Margret Skuballa who led her team to a victory scoring 23 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side Brett Benzio responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds. Don Bosco Bamberg's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. BC Pharmaserv Marburg moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Newly promoted Don Bosco Bamberg still closes the standings with seven games lost. BC Pharmaserv Marburg will meet at home Oberhausen (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Don Bosco Bamberg will play against Herner TC and hopes to get finally their first victory.

Heli Girls - Herner 79-53

The game with biggest result difference took place in Noerdlingen. Local Heli Girls (6-1) outscored 10th ranked Herner TC (1-6) 79-53. It looked good early as Herner TC took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Heli Girls had a 24-14 second period charge getting the lead and Herner TC was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 53-79. Heli Girls dominated on the defensive end, holding Herner TC to just 6 points in third quarter. They also forced 26 Herner TC turnovers. Heli Girls players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Herner TC helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a quality performance for Finnish swingman Heta Korpivaara (186-84, college: Seton Hall, agency: Regeneracom Sports) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds. American forward Morgan Henderson (185-88, college: San Diego) accounted for 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Serbian power forward Minja Terzic (188-79) came up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and center Britta Worms (185-88) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Herner TC in the defeat. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. There was no surprise when 11th ranked Oberhausen (1-6) was defeated at home by ninth ranked Rhein Main Baskets (3-4) 69-60. The guests were ahead by 3 points but lost the second period ending it with a 4-point deficit before their 20-7 run, which allowed them to win the game. Rhein Main Baskets dominated on the defensive end, holding Oberhausen to just 7 points in fourth quarter. It was an exceptional evening for international forward Stephanie Wagner (182-90) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. American forward Anya Covington (187-90, college: Wisconsin) accounted for 17 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side. Fijian guard Valerie Nainima (165-86, college: S.Carolina) came up with 18 points and international swingman Sarah Austmann (179-85) added 15 points respectively for Oberhausen in the defeat. It was an exceptional evening for Latvian center Ieva Kulite (191-88) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds.
