The game between third ranked BG Karlsruhe (6-3) and eighth ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (5-3) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. BG Karlsruhe was defeated by MLP Academics Heidelberg in a tough game in Karlsruhe 75-82. The guests trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 82-75. It was a good game for power forward Oliver Komarek (210-86) who led his team to a victory with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Canadian guard Tristan Blackwood (183-85) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Forward Rouven Roessler (200-80) answered with 19 points and 4 assists for BG Karlsruhe. MLP Academics Heidelberg moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Vechta. BG Karlsruhe at the other side keeps the third position with three games lost. MLP Academics Heidelberg is looking forward to face NBC (#7) in Nurnberg in the next round. BG Karlsruhe will play on the road against the league's leader BG Goettingen (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An interesting game for Duesseldorf Baskets (7-2) which played road game in Nurnberg against 4th placed NBC (5-4). Third ranked Duesseldorf Baskets managed to get a 11-point victory 72-61. American-Liberian forward Patrick Flomo (203-80, college: Ohio) stepped up and scored 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners and Nico Adamczak chipped in 17 points and 10 rebounds. The best for the losing side was swingman Cornelius Adler (195-89) with 17 points. Duesseldorf Baskets keep a position of league leader, which they share with Goettingen. NBC at the other side dropped to the sixth place with four games lost. They share the position with Chemnitz and Cuxhaven. Duesseldorf Baskets will play against BV Chemnitz 99 (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. NBC will play against MLP Academics Heidelberg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
ProA top team - BG Goettingen (7-2) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat fifteenth ranked Oettinger Rockets Gotha (2-7) 82-69. Nicholas Livas nailed a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side. Torvoris Baker came up with 14 points and 9 rebounds for Oettinger Rockets Gotha in the defeat. Oettinger Rockets Gotha's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. BG Goettingen have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 7-2 record, which they share with Duesseldorf. Oettinger Rockets Gotha lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fifteenth position with seven games lost. They share it with Leipzig. BG Goettingen will meet at home BG Karlsruhe (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Oettinger Rockets Gotha will play against ETB Wohnbau (#9) in Essen and hope to secure a win.
The game between seventh ranked Cuxhaven BasCats (5-4) and 11th ranked Crailsheim Merlins (3-6) in Cuxhaven ended with biggest points difference. Cuxhaven BasCats beat guests from Crailsheim 88-71. The best player for the winners was Scott Thomas who scored 28 points and 7 rebounds. Cuxhaven BasCats' coach Krists Plendiskis allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Cuxhaven BasCats moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Chemnitz and NBC. Crailsheim Merlins at the other side dropped to the thirteenth position with six games lost. Cuxhaven BasCats' next round opponent will be bottom-ranked USC Leipzig (#16) on the road and are hoping to win another game. Crailsheim Merlins will play against Kirchheim Knights and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 9: ETB Wohnbau were beaten by Jena on the road 93-82. Chemnitz won against Ehingen on its own court 62-55. Bottom-ranked Leipzig unfortunately lost to Finke Baskets in Paderborn 88-93. Kirchheim recorded a loss to Vechta at home 95-106.



Jena - ETB Wohnbau 93-82

There was a small surprise when twelfth ranked Science City Jena (4-5) beat at home 9th ranked ETB Wohnbau (4-5) 93-82. It looked good early as ETB Wohnbau took an 5-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Science City Jena had a 27-15 second period charge getting the lead and ETB Wohnbau was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 82-93. Science City Jena forced 24 ETB Wohnbau turnovers. 24 personal fouls committed by ETB Wohnbau helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American players dominated the game. The best player for the winners was guard Kenny Barker (191-86, college: Alaska-Anch.) who scored 21 points and 5 assists. Forward Sanijay Watts (193-87, college: Central Mo., agency: Limelight Hoops) chipped in 18 points. At the other side the best for losing team was Joey Henley (196-85, college: Sacred Heart) who recorded 18 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and guard Aaron Cook (186-83, college: Hartford, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) added 14 points and 5 assists respectively. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. ETB Wohnbau's coach Igor Krizanovic tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Science City Jena have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated ETB Wohnbau. Science City Jena's next round opponent will be higher ranked SC Rasta Vechta (#5) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
