Jacob
Burtschi

Jacob Burtschi (198-F-84, college: Air Force) is a 28 year old 198cm forward from Chickasha, Oklahoma who is playing his first season with the Bremerhaven Eisbaeren. He played as a rookie for Phoenix Hagen in 2010-2011 averaging 14.2ppg, 6.9rpg, 2.5apg, Steals-3 (1.5spg), FGP: 56.0%, 3PT: 44.2%, FT: 82.2%. He played at the Air Force from 2003-2007. In his senior year, he played 35 games averaging 13.5ppg, 6.0rpg, 2.3apg, 1.6spg, FGP: 49.7%, 3Pts: 39.0%, FT: 77.3%. He had offers to play in the NBA, but served in the Air Force the last three years and could only play club ball. Some achievements that he got in the NCAA were All-MWC Honorable Mention -05, MWC Regular Season Runner-Up -06, All-MWC 2nd Team -06, 07, NABC All-NCAA District 13 2nd Team -07, and NIT Final Four -07. Last season he played for CAI Zaragoza (Spain-ACB, starting five): 9 games: 2.6ppg, 2.4rpg; left in Nov.'11, in Dec.'11 moved to Fraport Skyliners Frankfurt (Germany-BBL): German League: 22 games: 8.2ppg, 4.5rpg, 1.4apg, 1.0spg, FGP: 50.0%, 3PT: 36.3%, FT: 87.5%; EuroCup: 2 games: 5.5ppg, 3.0rpg, 2.0apg, 1.0spg. He spoke to Eurobasket after the 97-87 win against Phoenix Hagen.

Congrats on the 97-87 win vs your ex team Phoenix Hagen. The Eisbaeren had a strong first quarter, but saw the real scoring face of Phoenix Hagen in the second quarter as they exploded for 30 points. What adjustments did they seem to make to suddenly double their points form first quarter?

Our defense went away and we gave them wide open lay ups all quarter

Was a key in the second half for getting the win that the Esiaberen Bremerhaven stayed pretty much consistent on the offensive end not having major breakdowns?

Yeah Hagen kept scoring on us so we were lucky to score on them more.

When do you remember shooting 77% from the field as a team? How happy was Doug Spradley about the overall shot selection of the team?

For the most part he is pleased. We still have to take some better shots down the stretch

You played a season with Mr fantastic Mark Dorris. What is your nicest memory with him on and off the court? How was his monopoly game?

Mark is a terrible monopoly player. Mark is a nice guy. Very personable on and off the court.

Brian Roberts had a great game for the Hornets netting 16 points registering eight assists in 29 minutes. Did you see his NBA potential the last years in the Beko BBL?

Yeah, the kid is a stud. He can play.

Are you surprised that your ex teammate Tim Ohlbrecht has decided to go play in the D-league for the Springfield Armour. Do you think he could slip into the Nets rotation if a big man gets injured?

I was a little surprised but he is a young guy and wanted to try his luck in the states. I wish the best for him. And if the opportunity comes, I think he could fill in for the nets.

Will Barack Obama be able to make the United States better in the next four years?

I hope so. We need him to.

What was your favorite scene form the movie Ted?

Not appropriate for reading.

Thanks Jacob fort he chat.
