The game had a very big importance for second-ranked TSV 1880 Wasserburg as it allowed them to take a leadership position. TSV 1880 Wasserburg smashed 7th ranked Eisvogel Freiburg at home 85-61. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 46-20 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. TSV 1880 Wasserburg outrebounded Eisvogel Freiburg 47-21 including a 28-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Emma Cannon (188-89, college: Cent.Florida) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 18 rebounds. The former international swingman Anne Breitreiner (183-84, agency: LBM Management) contributed with 26 points for the winners. Guard Julia Schindler (165-90) replied with 21 points and 5 assists for Eisvogel Freiburg. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. TSV 1880 Wasserburg (7-1) have an impressive five-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Heli Girls. Eisvogel Freiburg lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with four games lost. They share the position with BG 89 Avides. Eisvogel Freiburg will play next round against Rhein Main Baskets trying to get back on the winning streak. TSV 1880 Wasserburg will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Wildcats Wolfenbuettel on the road.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Osnabruck (5-3) against fourth ranked Wildcats Wolfenbuettel (5-3) on Saturday night. Visiting Osnabruck was crushed by Wildcats Wolfenbuettel in Wolfenbuettel 97-49. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Osnabruck. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Roli-Ann Haldin (178-84, college: Liberty) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and Ieva Kulite who added 13 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. American forward Ali Schwagmeyer (180-90, college: Quincy, agency: Gamble Sports Management) responded with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Osnabruck. Wildcats Wolfenbuettel will play against league's leader TSV 1880 Wasserburg at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Osnabruck will play against the league's second-placed Heli Girls in Noerdlingen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Don Bosco Bamberg's fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after seven consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Herne, where they defeated Herner TC (1-7) 80-64 on Saturday. The winners were led by Janae Young who scored that evening 27 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. Even 17 points and 7 rebounds by Minja Terzic did not help to save the game for Herner TC. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Don Bosco Bamberg left bottom position moving up to tenth place, which they share with Oberhausen and Herner. Don Bosco Bamberg will meet at home higher ranked Rotenburg/Scheessel (#8) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Herner TC will play against Oberhausen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Rotenburg was also worth to mention about. Second ranked Heli Girls (7-1) played at the court of 5th ranked Rotenburg/Scheessel (4-4). Heli Girls managed to secure a 8-point victory 68-60. The best player for the winners was Morgan Henderson who scored 19 points and 7 rebounds. Heli Girls have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Wasserburg. Rotenburg/Scheessel lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the seventh place with four games lost. Heli Girls' next round opponent will be Osnabruck (#6) on the road where they are favorite. Rotenburg/Scheessel will play against Don Bosco Bamberg.

In the last two games of round 8 Halle beat Rhein MB on the road 77-69. Marburg won against Oberhausen on its own court 61-55.
