The game had a very big importance for third-ranked BG Goettingen as it allowed them to take a leadership position. BG Goettingen defeated 8th ranked BV Chemnitz 99 at home 76-69. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 22-9 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. BG Goettingen forced 20 BV Chemnitz 99 turnovers. 33 personal fouls committed by BV Chemnitz 99 helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was naturalized American guard Akeem Vargas (191-90, college: Iowa Lakes CC) who scored 22 points. Greek-American guard Nicholas Livas (198-87, college: Ill.-Springfield) chipped in 9 points and 12 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Donald Lawson (208-88, college: W.Michigan) who recorded 11 points and 9 rebounds. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Duesseldorf and Karlsruhe. BV Chemnitz 99 at the other side keeps the eighth place with six games lost. They share the position with Finke Baskets and Ehingen. BV Chemnitz 99 will play next round against strong BG Karlsruhe trying to get back on the winning streak.
