Here is the weekly review of the top performing German players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an international forward Romy Baer (187-87, currently plays in France). She contributed to Lyon's victory against the league outsider Union Hainaut (1-10) 57-51 in the French LFB in Sunday night's game. Baer scored 8 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 25 minutes on the court. Union Lyon Basket Feminin (7-4) is placed fourth in the LFB. This year Baer averages: 8.8ppg, 4.1rpg, 2.5apg, 1.9spg, 3FGP: 37.1% and FT: 88.0% in the 11 games she played so far. She is currently a member of the German senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international guard Lea Mersch (170-87, currently plays in Czech Republic), who plays in the Czech Republic ZBL. Mersch could not help DSK Karlin (2-11) in their last game on Saturday. Despite her good performance DSK Karlin was badly defeated 74-57 on the road by the much higher-ranked Sokol Hradec Kralove (#3). Mersch recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points and getting 10 rebounds. Mersch's overall stats this season are: 4.2ppg, 3.3rpg, 1.2apg, 2FGP: 27.3% and FT: 65.5%. She played for the German national team in 2011.

   #3. The German player who performed third best last week abroad was an international center Lisa Koop (197-85, college: Winthrop, currently plays in Italy). Koop was not able to help Pall.Pozzuoli (2-5) in their game against Parma (5-2) in the Italian A1. She was the second best scorer with 9 points. Koop also added 5 rebounds in 25 minutes. But Pall.Pozzuoli was crushed 95-54 on the opponent's court by the higher-ranked (#3) Parma. It's Koop's first season with the team. This year her overall stats are: 6.7ppg, 5.7rpg and FT: 37.5% in the seven games. Koop is also a member of the German senior national team.

   #4. Power forward Petra Glaser (196-81, college: Long Beach St., currently plays in Sweden) was not able to secure a victory for Kvarnby (5-6) in their game against Northland (8-3) in the Swedish Damligan. Despite her good performance in Wednesday night's game She was the second best scorer with 11 points. Glaser also added 6 rebounds. Glaser has relatively good stats this season: 12.3ppg, 5.6rpg and 1.7apg. She used to play for the German national team last year.

Nadine Grieb

   #5. Former U20 international center Nadine Grieb (184-87, currently plays in Luxembourg) was the major contributor in an AB Contern's victory against the closely-ranked Sparta (3-6) 61-50 in the Luxembourg Diekirch League on Saturday night. She recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and getting 11 rebounds (was perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line). AB Contern (7-2) is placed third in the Diekirch League. It was her team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. Grieb is currently seventh on the list of top scorers. She has individually a very good season with high stats. Grieb averages: 18.8ppg, 8.1rpg, 2.6apg and 1.4spg. She used to play for the German U20 national team five years ago.

Mara Greunke

   #6. Power forward Mara Greunke (185-91, currently plays in Canada) couldn't help the Western Ontario (4-3) in their game against the Queen's (4-4) in the Canadian university league CIS. Greunke cannot count it as her best performance. She scored only 3 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 12 minutes. The Western Ontario (#4) was badly defeated 72-53 in Kingston by the Queen's. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. This year Greunke's total stats are: 1.3ppg and 2.3rpg in the seven games. She is a former U20 international player as she played for the German team two years ago.

   #1. Melina Muller (175-F-81, currently plays in Hungary), who plays in the Hungarian A Division could not help the league outsider MBK Eurl.Vasas (0-12) to beat Atomeromu (8-2). Muller scored 7 points in 20 minutes. The bottom-ranked MBK Eurl.Vasas lost 70-78 on the road to the leading Atomeromu. So far MBK Eurl.Vasas lost all twelve games in the Regular Season. This year Muller's total stats are: 1.8ppg and 1.4rpg in the 12 games she played so far.

   #2. Eva Schonecker (180-G/F-81, currently plays in Luxembourg) managed to help AB Contern to win against the closely-ranked Sparta (3-6) 61-50 in the Luxembourg Diekirch League last Saturday. Schonecker scored only 4 points. AB Contern (7-2) is placed third in the Diekirch League. It was her team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. Schonecker has averaged so far 1.1ppg and 1.8rpg.

TSV 1880 Wasserburg (DBBL) inked 26-year old Bosnian international guard Milica Deura (178-90, agency: Regeneracom Sports). She played most recently at Campus Promete in Spanish LFB league. In 7 games she averaged 6.3ppg, 2.1rpg and 1.6apg last season. Deura also played that season for Edirne Bld. She has played for the last four seasons at Greek Women U16 National Team in Greek league.Karambatsa represented Greece at the European Championships U20 in Matosinhos (Portugal) this year. Bender Baskets Grunberg (2.Bundesliga) inked Canadian forward Vanessa Zailo (180). She just graduated from Lindenwood (NCAA2). Her senior season Zailo started 13 of 27 games and she averaged 5.3ppg and 8.2rpg. She showed and impressive field goal percentage of 56.6%, which was even higher than her free throw percentage with 53,6%.As mentioned above Zailo is just out of the college and it will be her first season in pro basketball.
