Paul Harrison: "I just think the Sixers wasn't the right fit for me" - Dec 8, 2012

One of the most productive big men at the NCAA Division 2 level last season, Paul Harrison (203-C-89, college: N.Greenville) struggled to put up solid numbers during his first job as a professional and thus was waived by 2. Bundesliga Pro B team BSW Sixers in November. "I was not playing to the best of my ability", the 23-year-old Alpharetta, Georgia native said. Sixers' head coach Stephen Arigbabu had high hopes following Harrison's showings in the preseason exhibition games, but felt that he had to make a change as the rookie was not able to continue the same way in the first nine encounters of the regular season. "I definitely played a lot better in the preseason than in the regular season", Harrison admits.

In the Pro B he scored 10.2 points per contest (playing 21:29 minutes a game), a number below his rebounding (10.4rpg) during his senior season at North Greenwood and had a 3.3 boards per game-average. He had some decent performances though, showing flashes of his potential and contributing in double digits on five occasions, including a personal season-high 18 points against Wolfenbuettel (converting eight of his eleven finishing opportunities) and two 16 points-performances (against Recklinghausen and Wedel), in which he impressed with high percentage shooting as well. "My overall game could have been better, I just think the Sixers wasn't the right fit for me", he says. Considering the stats line that he posted for the Crusaders last year (17.9ppg, 10.4rpg, 2.4apg, 2.0bpg), which resulted in All-Conference Carolinas Second Team honors, he remains confident for his further career: "I think I could be a very dominate player at the Pro B level. No doubt in my mind I could average a double double (in this league). Right now I am in Finland with Kaarinan URA Baskets to see if this is a better fit. I'm sure it will be." In his first game for the second division side, a 85-80 win over Huima on Thursday, Harrison scored 23 points, grabbed eight rebounds, dished out four assists and blocked two shots.

Jens Hirschberg (200-F-88) is set to join 2. Bundesliga Pro B SC Rist Wedel for the 2013-14 season. Hirschberg averaged 6.9 points and 3.4 rebounds for Licher Basket Baeren last season. He will add some Pro A experience to the roster as he appeared in 58 Pro A contests for Heidelberg until 2010.
