The game between second ranked BG Karlsruhe (9-4) and seventh ranked BV Chemnitz 99 (7-6) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. BG Karlsruhe was defeated by BV Chemnitz 99 in Chemnitz 56-69. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of BG Karlsruhe. BV Chemnitz 99 maintains seventh place with 7-6 record. BG Karlsruhe at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. They share it with Duesseldorf. BV Chemnitz 99 are looking forward to face NBC (#12) in Nurnberg in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. BG Karlsruhe will play at home against Finke Baskets (#9) in Paderborn and is hoping to win this game.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Duesseldorf Baskets (9-4) against fourteenth ranked Kirchheim Knights (5-8) on Saturday night. Visiting Duesseldorf Baskets were defeated by Kirchheim Knights in a tough game in Kirchheim 70-78. American guard Timothy Burnette (188-82, college: Tarleton St.) stepped up and scored 25 points for the winners and Dominik Schneider chipped in 8 points and 9 rebounds. Kirchheim Knights' coach Branislav Ignjatovic allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side American point guard Gary Johnson (188-82, college: Cent.Florida) responded with 16 points and 6 assists. Kirchheim Knights moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with ETB Wohnbau and NBC. Duesseldorf Baskets at the other side dropped to the second position with four games lost. They share it with Karlsruhe. Kirchheim Knights will play against higher ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (#8) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Duesseldorf Baskets will play against Science City Jena (#6) and hope to get back on the winning track.
ProA top team - BG Goettingen (10-3) added another victory to their record on Saturday. This time they beat tenth ranked Finke Baskets (6-7) in Paderborn 85-80. Ramon Harris nailed 30 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Jason Jamerson came up with 21 points and 5 rebounds for Finke Baskets in the defeat. BG Goettingen have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 10-3 record. Loser Finke Baskets dropped to the ninth position with seven games lost. They share it with Ehingen. BG Goettingen will meet at home Cuxhaven BasCats (#5) in the next round. Finke Baskets will play against BG Karlsruhe (#3) and hope to secure a win.
Worth to mention about the upset in a game between NBC (5-8) and Oettinger Rockets Gotha (4-9), which took place in Gotha. Higher ranked NBC lost to fifteenth ranked Oettinger Rockets Gotha in a road game 91-103. American players dominated the game. Torvoris Baker fired 24 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. Oettinger Rockets Gotha's coach Christoph Nikol used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Oettinger Rockets Gotha moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Crailsheim. NBC lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with eight games lost.
