Here is the weekly review of the top performing German players, who play currently abroad.


Romy Baer

   #1. This week's number one is an international forward Romy Baer (187-87, currently plays in France). She led Lyon to a victory over the closely-ranked Toulouse (7-5) crushing them 63-41 in the French LFB in Friday night's game. Baer was MVP of the game. She scored 16 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 32 minutes on the court. Union Lyon Basket Feminin (8-4) is placed third in the LFB. It was her team's third consecutive victory in a row. It's Baer's first season with the team. This year Baer averages: 9.4ppg, 4.3rpg, 2.5apg, 1.8spg, 2FGP: 34.8%, 3FGP: 37.8% and FT: 83.3% in the 12 games she played so far. She is currently a member of the German senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international center Lisa Koop (197-85, college: Winthrop, currently plays in Italy), who plays in the Italian A1. Koop could not help Pall.Pozzuoli (2-7) in their last game on Sunday. Despite her good performance Pall.Pozzuoli was badly defeated 61-45 on the road by the higher-ranked Lucca (#5). Koop was the second best scorer with 12 points. She also added 7 rebounds. Koop's overall stats this season are: 7.4ppg, 6.3rpg and FT: 52.9%. She is in the roster of the German senior national team.

   #3. The German player who performed third best last week abroad was an international guard Lea Mersch (170-87, currently plays in Czech Republic). Mersch managed to help DSK Basketball Karlin in a victory against the league outsider BK Pliska Studanka (1-13) 79-62 in the Czech Republic ZBL on Sunday night. She scored 5 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 21 minutes. DSK Basketball Karlin (3-11) is placed second from the bottom (#11) in the ZBL. They ended the series of nine consecutive loses. This year Mersch's overall stats are: 4.3ppg, 3.4rpg, 1.4apg, 2FGP: 27.4% and FT: 62.5% in the 14 games. She played for the German national team one years ago.

   #4. Power forward Petra Glaser (196-81, college: Long Beach St., currently plays in Sweden) was not able to help Kvarnby (5-6) in their game against Northland (8-3) in the Swedish Damligan. Despite her good performance in Wednesday night's game Glaser was the second best scorer with 11 points. She also added 6 rebounds. Glaser has relatively good stats this season: 12.3ppg, 5.6rpg and 1.7apg. She used to play for the German national team last year.

   #5. Former U20 international guard Christiane Fischer (168-90, currently plays in Canada) was not able to secure a victory for the Manitoba University (6-4) in their game against the Winnipeg (4-6) in the Canadian university league CIS. Fischer did not have that impressive stats last Wednesday. She scored only 1 points and added 3 passes in 23 minutes. The Manitoba University (#3) lost in an overtime 60-68 in a derby game to the Winnipeg. This year Fischer's total stats are: 3.4ppg, 4.0rpg, 1.4apg and 1.8spg in the nine games. She used to play for the German U20 national team two years ago.

The 23-year old American graduated Denver University in 2016 and joined BC Pharmaserv Marburg for her rookie season. Gruner Stern Keltern ink Agnieszka Fikiel (194-F/C-87) from the championship rival TSV 1880 Wasserburg. The 29-year old Power Forward played last season for TSV 1880 Wasserburg winning the German Cup and German Championship, both times the final was played against the Gruner Stern Keltern. Agnieszka Agnieszka Fikiel (194-F/C-87) averaged in season 7.7ppg, 3.8rpg, while having great shooting percentages from all over the court (FGP: 49.7%, 3PT: 36.8%, FT: 87.1%). Sonja Greinacher signs with Wisly Can-Pack - 1 day ago
Sonja Greinacher (190-F/C-92, college: Gonzaga) signs with TS Wisla Can-Pack Krakow for the upcoming season. The 24-year old German national player graduated from Gonzaga University in 2015. The past two years Greinacher played for Herner TC, where she averaged last season 13.9ppg, 6.3rpg, 1.3apg. She was named to the Eurobasket All-Domestic Team and 2nd Team in both years and as All-Domestic Player in 2016.
