Former Fraport Skyliner Jon Leuer Joins 4th NBA Team In Last Year - Jan 23, 2013

Jon Leuer
Even though Jon Leuer (208-F-89, agency: Priority Sports, college: Wisconsin) might never have openly flaunted his big desire to play NBA basketball when he was in Frankfurt, it was no secret in his rookie season during the NBA lockout that the ex Fraport Skyliner American was going to be in the best league in the world at some time soon. After only 14 months in the NBA, Jon Leuer will be joining his fourth NBA team as was reported by the associated press today. After playing for the Fraport Skyliners where he played German League: 10 games: 14.8ppg, 7.8rpg, 1.1apg, FGP: 49.5%, 3PT: 28.6%, FT: 64.9%; EuroCup: 3 games: 12.0ppg, 4.3rpg, 1.0bpg, he moved to the Milwaukee Bucks who had drafted him in the summer of 2011. He finished the season for the Bucks where there was a lot of competition at his position, but still had a respectable season playing 46 games: 4.7ppg, 2.6rpg. This season he was shipped to the Houston Rockets and then traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in pre season. This season, he had a difficult time cracking the Cavs rotation and also spent time with the Canton Charge (D league) playing eight games and averaging 19,5ppg, 12,3rpg and 1,8 apg. He played nine games for the Cavs averaging 2,4ppg and 1,4rpg.

Today a huge trade was announced involving the ex Fraport Skyliner as Memphis sent big man Marreese Speights, guards Wayne Ellington and Josh Selby, and a future first-round draft pick to the Cavs for forward Jon Leuer. Memphis slices more than six million from their payroll to get under the luxury tax. The first round pick is very valuable to the Cavs in 2015 or 2016, if the Grizzlies' first-rounder falls between picks 6-14, the pick goes to the Cavs. Starting in 2017, if the Grizzlies' pick falls outside the top five, the Cavs then get the selection.
