The game between third ranked Cuxhaven BasCats (12-7) and thirteenth ranked Oettinger Rockets Gotha (7-12) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Cuxhaven BasCats were defeated by Oettinger Rockets Gotha in a tough game in Gotha 85-94. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Cuxhaven BasCats. Oettinger Rockets Gotha shot 62.7 percent from the field. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for guard Chase Griffin (188-83, college: Pepperdine) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Torvoris Baker (203-83, college: Detroit Mercy) helped adding 14 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side forward Scott Thomas (200-89, college: Bowling Green, agency: I.D.S. Law) responded with 24 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Oettinger Rockets Gotha moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Cuxhaven BasCats at the other side dropped to the fourth position with seven games lost. They share it with Karlsruhe. Oettinger Rockets Gotha is looking forward to face higher ranked Duesseldorf Baskets (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cuxhaven BasCats will play against Kirchheim Knights and are hoping to win this game.
Very important is a home loss of second ranked BG Goettingen (14-5) against fourteenth ranked Crailsheim Merlins (7-12) on Saturday night. Host BG Goettingen was defeated by Crailsheim Merlins in a tough game in Goettingen 68-74. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Derek Coleman (180-84, college: Robert Morris) who led the winners and scored 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Stevie Johnson accounted for 18 points and 8 rebounds. Crailsheim Merlins' coach Willie Young allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Ramon Harris (201-88, college: Kentucky) came up with 17 points and 9 rebounds for BG Goettingen in the defeat. Crailsheim Merlins moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with 3 other teams. BG Goettingen at the other side keeps the second position with five games lost. Crailsheim Merlins will play against higher ranked BG Karlsruhe (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. BG Goettingen will play against USC Leipzig and hopes to get back on the winning track.
ProA top team - SC Rasta Vechta (15-4) added another victory to their record on Saturday. This time they beat fifth ranked BG Karlsruhe (12-7) 94-87. A.J. Rudowitz fired 18 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Rouven Roessler produced 21 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. SC Rasta Vechta have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. Newly promoted SC Rasta Vechta maintains first place with 15-4 record. Loser BG Karlsruhe dropped to the fourth position with seven games lost. They share it with Cuxhaven. SC Rasta Vechta will meet at home NBC (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. BG Karlsruhe will play against Crailsheim Merlins (#12) and hope to secure a win.
A very interesting game took place in Paderborn. It ended with only two-point home defeat of 12th ranked Finke Baskets (7-12) to fifteenth ranked Kirchheim Knights (7-12) 87-85 in the game for the twelfth place. Worth to mention a great performance of Sebastian Adeberg who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 7 rebounds. Kirchheim Knights moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Finke Baskets. Kirchheim Knights' next round opponent will be higher ranked Cuxhaven BasCats (#4) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
Ninth ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (9-10) crushed at home 16th ranked USC Leipzig (3-16) by 27 points 97-70, which is the biggest margin this round on Sunday night. Worth to mention a quality performance of Devin White who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 5 rebounds. MLP Academics Heidelberg's coach Tony Garbelotto felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. MLP Academics Heidelberg moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Jena. USC Leipzig lost their eighth game in a row. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost. MLP Academics Heidelberg will face higher ranked Ehingen/Urspringschule (#7) in Allmendingen in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. USC Leipzig will play at home against the league's second-placed BG Goettingen (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.

Heidelberg - Leipzig 97-70

Ninth ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (9-10) crushed at home 16th ranked USC Leipzig (3-16) by 27 points 97-70, which is the biggest margin this round on Sunday night. The game was mostly controlled by MLP Academics Heidelberg. USC Leipzig was better in second period 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. MLP Academics Heidelberg forced 22 USC Leipzig turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. MLP Academics Heidelberg looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by USC Leipzig's players. Worth to mention a quality performance of American forward Devin White (203-88, college: SUNO) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 5 rebounds. Power forward Oliver Komarek (210-86) helped adding 20 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four MLP Academics Heidelberg players scored in double figures. MLP Academics Heidelberg's coach Tony Garbelotto felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the losing side American guard Adam Sollazzo (198-90, college: E.Tenn.St., agency: Edge Sports) responded with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Walter Simon (202-89, college: Cumberland) scored 17 points. MLP Academics Heidelberg moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Jena. USC Leipzig lost their eighth game in a row. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost. MLP Academics Heidelberg will face higher ranked Ehingen/Urspringschule (#7) in Allmendingen in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. USC Leipzig will play at home against the league's second-placed BG Goettingen (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.

Very expected game when 7th ranked Ehingen/Urspringschule (10-9) was defeated on the road by third ranked Duesseldorf Baskets (13-6) 57-48 on Sunday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 16-4. But Ehingen/Urspringschule won second period 17-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Duesseldorf Baskets dominated on the defensive end, holding Ehingen/Urspringschule to just 4 points in first quarter. They outrebounded Ehingen/Urspringschule 46-24 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American forward Kendall Chones (201-84, college: Colgate, agency: Dynamics Global Management) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. Naturalized American forward Adam Waleskowski (204-82, college: Florida St., agency: Three Eye Sports) helped adding 11 points and 10 rebounds. At the losing side American guard Virgil Matthews (188-83, college: Montana) responded with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward Andre Calvin (196-85, college: Drake) scored 10 points. Ehingen/Urspringschule's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Duesseldorf Baskets. They maintain third place with 13-6 record having just two points less than leader Vechta. Loser Ehingen/Urspringschule keeps the seventh position with nine games lost. Duesseldorf Baskets will face Oettinger Rockets Gotha (#14) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Ehingen/Urspringschule will play against MLP Academics Heidelberg (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

A very interesting game took place in Paderborn. It ended with only two-point home defeat of 12th ranked Finke Baskets (7-12) to fifteenth ranked Kirchheim Knights (7-12) 87-85 in the game for the twelfth place. Finke Baskets were ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 21-14 third quarter run of Kirchheim Knights. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Finke Baskets' 40. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Sebastian Adeberg (198-84) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 7 rebounds. American swingman Justin Stommes (200-88, college: E.Kentucky) contributed with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Kirchheim Knights players scored in double figures. American guard Jason Jamerson (190-86, college: Grand Valley St.) answered with 21 points and the other American import swingman Billy Rush (201-88, college: Robert Morris) added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Finke Baskets. Kirchheim Knights moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Finke Baskets. They outrebounded Science City Jena 47-24 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Science City Jena was plagued by 32 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for Japanese point guard Takumi Ishizaki (188-84) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points. American guard John Bynum (191-78, college: Metro St.) helped adding 13 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side forward Kevin Wysocki (198-87) responded with 19 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Kenny Barker (191-86, college: Alaska-Anch.) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Science City Jena's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. BV Chemnitz 99 maintains sixth place with 11-8 record. But then Crailsheim Merlins had a 20-15 second period charge getting the lead and BG Goettingen was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 68-74. Crailsheim Merlins made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Derek Coleman (180-84, college: Robert Morris) who led the winners and scored 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import power forward Stevie Johnson (198-78, college: Iowa St.) accounted for 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Crailsheim Merlins' coach Willie Young allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games.
