There was no lack of interesting games this round. The round ended with extra overtimes and favorites losing the games.

The most exciting game of round 17 in the ProB took place in Wulfen. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of second-ranked SC Rist Wedel (12-5) to ninth ranked BSV Wulfen (7-10) 75-73 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 75-73. American center Anthony Young (200-89, college: Ky Wesleyan) stepped up and scored 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and guard Maik Berger (175-84) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. Marvin Boadu (193-89) responded with 17 points and 7 rebounds. SC Rist Wedel's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. BSV Wulfen moved-up to sixth place in Group North, which they share with 4 other teams. SC Rist Wedel at the other side keeps the second position with five games lost. BSV Wulfen is looking forward to face Hannover Tigers (#8) in Hannover in the next round. SC Rist Wedel will play at home against Spot Up Medien Baskets (#11) in Braunschweig and is hoping to win this game.
Important game to mention about took place in Braunschweig. Sixth ranked Recklinghausen (8-9) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 8th ranked Spot Up Medien Baskets (6-11) 93-91 on Saturday evening. American forward Robert Franklin (195-81, college: N.Mexico Highlands) nailed a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side and Patrick Carney accounted for 14 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Recklinghausen's coach Georg Kleine allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. International point guard Dennis Schroeder (181-93) came up with 23 points and 7 assists for Spot Up Medien Baskets in the defeat. Recklinghausen moved-up to fifth place in Group North. Spot Up Medien Baskets lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh position with 11 games lost. Recklinghausen will play against league's leader SG Schwelmer Baskets at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Spot Up Medien Baskets will play against the league's second-placed SC Rist Wedel (#2) and hope to get back on the winning track.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Noerdlingen (10-7) against eighth ranked Leitershofen (8-9) on Saturday night. Visiting Noerdlingen was defeated by Leitershofen in a tough game in Diedorf 92-96. The best player for the winners was Lindsey Hughey who had a triple-double by scoring 24 points, 13 rebounds, 11 assists and 6 steals. Chad Gray produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds for the guests. Leitershofen maintains eighth place in Group South with 8-9 record. Loser Noerdlingen keeps the third position with seven games lost. They share it with Langen and Bayer Giants. Leitershofen will meet higher ranked Licher Baeren (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Noerdlingen will play against TSV Troester (#12) in Breitenguessbach and hope to secure a win.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Herten. 3rd placed host Herten Lions (11-6) lost to first ranked SG Schwelmer Baskets (16-1) 74-70. Julius Coles orchestrated the victory by scoring 29 points and 8 rebounds. SG Schwelmer Baskets have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. They maintain first place in Group North with 16-1 record. Herten Lions at the other side keep the third position with six games lost. SG Schwelmer Baskets' next round opponent will be Recklinghausen (#5) on the road. Herten Lions will play against RSV Eintracht in Stahnsdorf.
ProB top team - Dragons Rhoendorf (15-2) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat tenth ranked Dresden (6-11) 82-69. Americans were the main players on the court. Geddes Robinson stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 21 rebounds for the winners. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
