Fabien Fond (177-PG-71) may be a 41 year old guard from France, but when you witness him walking around the Audi dome in Munich, one notices quickly that he is still in top shape, but that he is still playing organized basketball making a living is something one would not expect even though his smile and jest for basketball is as interesting to watch as his battles with Steffen Hamann which he had in preseason as he was practicing with FC Bayern Munich as many of the Germans were with the German national team. Fond signed his first pro-contract as the youngest Player in France at the age of 17 years old. He has always been a very smart player, fast play, excellent touch for the ball, very good sense and vision of the game, his strength lies in one-on-one play penetration, he uses more rarely in a game but has good quality on three-point shoot. He is a team player and strong character of a winner that gave him a long career as a basketball player that played for the biggest Clubs in France and Europe with Villeurbanne (for 7 years), Brest, Sabel, and Gravelines.
Fond also had experience playing In Germany for teams like BG Karlsruhe and FC Schalke 04. He then got experience playing for Sdent BBC Nyon (Switzerland-LNA, Meyrin Grand-Saconnex Basket (Switzerland-LNA) and Basquet Mallorca (Spain-LEB Gold) before heading back to Germany to play for the Deutsche Bank Skyliners PRO B team in 2009-2010. There the French man was a super mentor for young guards Willis Gardner and Nico Anders while still being able to play the game he loves. Since 2010-2011, he has been in Bavaria still showcasing his skills for FC Bayern Muenchen II (Germany-2.Regionalliga). There he helps young Germans like Janosch Koegler and Jakob Sperber. He has had the ideal task of helping young players on the team as well as doing other basketball duties for Germanys most famous sports club. However he still hasnt lost his zeal for basketball as he is slowly approaching 42 and currently has offers from some PRO A and PRO B clubs in France. For one team, he could use his age and experience to perfection helping two young playmakers develop. The question is will the gregarious Fond go back to his home country to give back or stay in Munich? He has a conflict of interest, but it isnt difficult to see that his heart also has red/white colors.
