There was no lack of excitement in the last round games. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

The most important game in the last round took place in Bonn between second ranked ratiopharm Ulm (14-7) and eighth ranked Telekom Baskets (11-10) on Saturday night. ratiopharm Ulm was defeated by Telekom Baskets in a tough game on the road 94-99. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of ratiopharm Ulm. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 30-21. But ratiopharm Ulm won second period 26-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Telekom Baskets looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American swingman Robert Vaden (196-85, college: UAB) scored 32 points and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Lithuanian guard Benas Veikalas (192-83, college: Metro St.) chipped in 24 points during the contest. Telekom Baskets' coach Michael Koch used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American center John Bryant (208-87, college: Santa Clara) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds. Telekom Baskets have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place. ratiopharm Ulm at the other side dropped to the third position with seven games lost. Telekom Baskets are looking forward to face EnBW Ludwigsburg (#15) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. ratiopharm Ulm will play against Phoenix Hagen (#9) and is hoping to win this game.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Bamberg. First ranked host Brose Bask. (19-2) defeated 4th ranked EWE Baskets (13-7) 94-88. American-FYR Macedonian forward Jeremiah Massey (202-82, college: Kansas St.) notched 18 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and Casey Jacobsen supported him with 18 points and 6 assists. Even 23 points by American point guard Dru Joyce (183-85, college: Akron) did not help to save the game for EWE Baskets. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Brose Bask. have an impressive nine-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 19-2 record. EWE Baskets at the other side keep the fourth place with seven games lost. Brose Bask. will play against TBB Trier (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. EWE Baskets will play against Mitteldeutscher BC (#13) in Weissenfels and hope to get back on the winning track.
A very close game took place in Braunschweig between New Yorker Phantoms and TBB Trier. Seventeenth ranked New Yorker Phantoms (7-14) got a very close home victory over higher ranked TBB Trier (10-11). New Yorker Phantoms managed to escape with a 3-point win 84-81 on Saturday evening. Harding NaNa fired 17 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Nate Linhart produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. New Yorker Phantoms moved-up to sixteenth place. TBB Trier lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Phoenix Hagen and s.Oliver Baskets. New Yorker Phantoms will meet higher ranked BBC Bayreuth (#12) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. TBB Trier will play against the league's leader Brose Bask. having rather not much hope for a victory.
An interesting game took place in Wuerzburg where higher ranked Artland Dragons (12-10) were upseton the court of eleventh ranked s Oliver Baskets (10-11) 80-63. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Artland Dragons. Worth to mention a great performance of Jimmy McKinney who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 6 assists. s Oliver Baskets' coach Marcel Schroeder allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. s Oliver Baskets moved-up to ninth place, which they share with TBB Trier and Phoenix Hagen. Artland Dragons at the other side keep the sixth position with ten games lost. s Oliver Baskets' next round opponent will be league's second-placed Bayern Muenchen on the road and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
An interesting game took place in Tuebingen where 8th ranked Phoenix Hagen (10-11) was upset on the court of eleventh ranked Walter Tigers (11-11) 99-69 on Saturday.
