The game between third ranked Duesseldorf Baskets (14-7) and ninth ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (10-11) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Duesseldorf Baskets were defeated by MLP Academics Heidelberg in Heidelberg 70-86. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Duesseldorf Baskets. The hosts trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 86-70. Strangely Duesseldorf Baskets outrebounded MLP Academics Heidelberg 37-25 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when MLP Academics Heidelberg made 8 blocks. 26 personal fouls committed by Duesseldorf Baskets helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for swingman Janis Heindel (199-83) who led his team to a victory with 21 points.
