The game between third ranked Duesseldorf Baskets (14-7) and ninth ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (10-11) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Duesseldorf Baskets were defeated by MLP Academics Heidelberg in Heidelberg 70-86. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Duesseldorf Baskets. The hosts trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 86-70. Strangely Duesseldorf Baskets outrebounded MLP Academics Heidelberg 37-25 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when MLP Academics Heidelberg made 8 blocks. 26 personal fouls committed by Duesseldorf Baskets helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for swingman Janis Heindel (199-83) who led his team to a victory with 21 points. American forward Devin White (203-88, college: SUNO) contributed with 17 points and 5 blocks for the winners. Naturalized American forward Adam Waleskowski (204-82, college: Florida St., agency: Three Eye Sports) answered with 19 points and 9 rebounds for Duesseldorf Baskets. Duesseldorf Baskets' coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. MLP Academics Heidelberg moved-up to eighth place. Duesseldorf Baskets at the other side keep the third position with seven games lost. They share it with Karlsruhe. MLP Academics Heidelberg are looking forward to face Oettinger Rockets Gotha (#13) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Duesseldorf Baskets will play against the league's second-placed BG Goettingen (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
ProA top team - SC Rasta Vechta (16-5) added another victory to their record. This time they beat sixth ranked BV Chemnitz 99 (11-10) 85-80. American point guard Richard Williams (178-87, college: San Diego St.) stepped up and scored 18 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals for the winners and Dirk Madrich chipped in 20 points and 10 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American forward Alex Jones (206-87, college: Seattle) with 19 points and 8 rebounds. Newly promoted SC Rasta Vechta maintains first place with 16-5 record, which they share with Goettingen. BV Chemnitz 99 at the other side keeps the sixth position with ten games lost. They share it with Ehingen. SC Rasta Vechta will play against Finke Baskets (#11) in Paderborn in the next round and are hoping to win another game. BV Chemnitz 99 will play on the road against Crailsheim Merlins (#14) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
A very close game took place in Paderborn between Finke Baskets and ETB Wohnbau. Twelfth ranked Finke Baskets (9-12) got a very close home victory over higher ranked ETB Wohnbau (9-12). Finke Baskets managed to escape with a 3-point win 68-65 in the game for the ninth place. Jason Jamerson nailed 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. Logan Stutz came up with 18 points and 6 rebounds for ETB Wohnbau in the defeat. Finke Baskets moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated ETB Wohnbau. Finke Baskets will meet league's leader SC Rasta Vechta on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. ETB Wohnbau will play against Cuxhaven BasCats (#5) and hope to secure a win.
Worth to mention about the upset in a game between NBC (9-12) and Crailsheim Merlins (8-13), which took place in Nurnberg. Higher ranked NBC lost at home to fifteenth ranked Crailsheim Merlins 80-92. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of NBC. The best player for the winners was Jonathan Moore who had a double-double by scoring 29 points and 11 rebounds. NBC's coach Martin Ides tested eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Crailsheim Merlins moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Kirchheim and Gotha. NBC at the other side keeps the ninth position with 12 games lost. Crailsheim Merlins' next round opponent will be higher ranked BV Chemnitz 99 (#6) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 21: bottom-ranked Leipzig was beaten by Karlsruhe on the road 80-73. Goettingen won against Ehingen on its own court 73-64. Kirchheim unfortunately lost to Gotha in a road game 97-107. Cuxhaven managed to beat Jena at home 100-92.
The most impressive performance of 21th round was 37 points (!!!) and 4 steals by Zamal Nixon of NBC.
