Murphy's double-double lands her 2.Bundesliga Player of the Week award - Feb 11, 2013

Robin Murphy
-year old swingman Robin Murphy (185-G/F) had an amazing evening in the last round for Trier and receives a Eurobasket.com 2.Bundesliga Player of the Week award for round 16.
She had a double-double of 26 points and 16 rebounds, while her team beat Jahn Muenchen (#9, 5-10) 51-42. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on the top of the standings in South. Trier maintains the 10th position in German league. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such low. They already lost 13 games and recorded just two victories. Murphy just recently signed at Trier, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Robin Murphy averages just after three games 20.7ppg and 12.0rpg.

Second best performed player last round was Kellindra Zackery (182-G/F-88) of Viernheim. She is American swingman in her first season at Viernheim. In the last game Zackery recorded impressive double-double of 22 points and 17 rebounds. Bad luck as Viernheim lost that game 62-74 to South's leader Saarlouis (#1, 15-0). This loss caused Viernheim to drop to 6th position in South. Her team lost some distance to top teams. But 8-7 record is not bad and everything may still change. Zackery is a newcomer at Viernheim and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 24.8ppg (#1). She also registered 12.4 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to swingman Ciara Iglehart (180-G/F-84) of Bad Aibling (#7). Iglehart showcased her all-around game by recording 23 points, thirteen rebounds (!!!) and five assists in the last round. She was a key player of Bad Aibling, leading her team to a 94-91 win against the higher-ranked Keltern (#2, 10-4). Bad Aibling needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams in South. Their record at this point is 7 victories and 7 lost games. Iglehart has a very solid season. In 8 games in Germany she scored 17.0ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Matteke Hutzler (188-C) of Sandhausen - 21 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Finja Schaake (179-F-92) of Gruenberg - 34 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Mareike Nettersheim (186-C) of Opladen - 13 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Gabriela Jandova (190-C-73) of Mainz - 21 points and 13 rebounds
8. Noemie Rouault (180-F-95) of Berlin - 17 points and 16 rebounds
9. Klaudia Grudzien (183-F-90) of Goettingen - 20 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Candace Williams (183-F-88) of Chemnitz - 17 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

North Wolfenbuettel - Goettingen 46-56 Goettingen celebrated North title. They upset Wolfenbuettel on the road to sweep the championship series. The game was mostly controlled by Goettingen. Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel managed to win second period 16-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel to just 7 points in first quarter. The best player for the winners was Trinidad and Tobago center Verdin...   [read more]

Tigers land Jessica Hootmann, ex Bad Aibling - 1 day ago
Willetton Tigers (SBL) tabbed 32-year old German power forward Jessica Hootmann (190-85). She played recently at TuS Bad Aibling Fireballs in German 2.Bundesliga. In 24 games she averaged 11.6ppg, 3.7rpg and 2.1apg this season. The last season Hootmann played also at Fireballs (also in 2.Bundesliga) where in 26 games she had 13.9ppg, 5.1rpg and 3.2apg. She helped them to win the group title (twice) (also twice). She can count that season as a very successful as was selected to Eurobasket....   [read more]
