The game between third ranked Eisvogel Freiburg (10-7) and sixth ranked Osnabruck (10-7) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Eisvogel Freiburg was defeated by Osnabruck in a tough game in Osnabruck 46-55. The game without a history. Osnabruck led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Osnabruck forced 24 Eisvogel Freiburg turnovers. American forward Ali Schwagmeyer (180-90, college: Quincy, agency: Gamble Sports Management) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 9 rebounds. Power forward Juliane Hoehne (189-83, college: IPFW) contributed with 13 points and 5 assists for the winners. American swingman Jahzinga Tracey (185, college: Indiana, PA) answered with 19 points and 7 rebounds for Eisvogel Freiburg. Osnabruck moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Eisvogel Freiburg. Osnabruck is looking forward to face Rotenburg/Scheessel (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Eisvogel Freiburg will play against Wildcats Wolfenbuettel (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

American guard Brianne O'Rourke (171-87, college: Penn St.) responded with 10 points and 5 rebounds. SV Halle Lions moved-up to second place. Wildcats Wolfenbuettel lost third consecutive game. Defending champion dropped to the third position with seven games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. SV Halle Lions will play against league's leader TSV 1880 Wasserburg on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Wildcats Wolfenbuettel will play against Eisvogel Freiburg and hopes to get back on the winning track.

It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Oberhausen. Emma Cannon nailed a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side. Valerie Nainima came up with 17 points and 7 assists for Oberhausen in the defeat. TSV 1880 Wasserburg have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain first place with 15-2 record. Oberhausen at the other side dropped to the eighth position with ten games lost. They share it with Marburg. TSV 1880 Wasserburg will meet at home league's second-placed SV Halle Lions in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Oberhausen will play against Rhein Main Baskets (#7) in Langen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 17: Marburg was beaten by Heli Girls on the road 71-67. BG 89 Avides lost to Herner on its own court 63-80. Rhein MB managed to outperform Bamberg in Langen 77-62.



Heli Girls - Marburg 71-67

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Heli Girls (10-7) beat 8th ranked BC Pharmaserv Marburg (7-10) in Noerdlingen 71-67 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 20-11 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. American guard Amanda Rego (170-86, college: San Diego) nailed a double-double by scoring 12 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists for the winning side and Cuban forward Yadira Francis (186-85) accounted for 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. International swingman Tina Menz (174-88) came up with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and American center Martha White (187-89, college: NC-Wilmington) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively for BC Pharmaserv Marburg in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Heli Girls moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. BC Pharmaserv Marburg at the other side keeps the eighth position with ten games lost. They share it with Oberhausen. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Oberhausen. The game was mostly controlled by TSV 1880 Wasserburg. Oberhausen managed to win second period 20-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Oberhausen to just 5 points in first quarter. TSV 1880 Wasserburg dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Oberhausen's 30. They outrebounded Oberhausen 46-23 including a 39-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. Herner TC shot 28 for 39 from the free-throw line, while Rotenburg/Scheessel only scored eleven points from the stripe. Herner TC forced 19 Rotenburg/Scheessel turnovers.
