The most exciting game of round 24 in the ProA took place in Heidelberg. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 8th ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (11-13) to fifth ranked BG Karlsruhe (15-9) 85-82 on Sunday evening. The guests trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 26-18 charge, which allowed them to win the game. BG Karlsruhe made 27-of-34 free shots (79.4 percent) during the game, while MLP Academics Heidelberg only scored eight points from the stripe. 24 personal fouls committed by MLP Academics Heidelberg helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was guard Jaivon Harris (197-82, college: Ohio) who scored 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Jeremy Black (203-85, college: Tampa, agency: Court Side) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Devin White (203-88, college: SUNO) who recorded 26 points. MLP Academics Heidelberg's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. BG Karlsruhe moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Cuxhaven. MLP Academics Heidelberg at the other side dropped to the ninth position with 13 games lost. They share it with NBC. BG Karlsruhe is looking forward to face league's second-placed BG Goettingen at home in the next round and it may be the game of the week. MLP Academics Heidelberg will play against NBC (#10) in Nurnberg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked USC Leipzig managed to get a fourth victory, breaking the twelve-game losing streak. This time newly promoted USC Leipzig won against fourteenth-ranked Finke Baskets 91-82. It was a good game for American guard Adam Sollazzo (198-90, college: E.Tenn.St., agency: Edge Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Nick Freer contributed with 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American swingman Jason Adams (194-89, college: Missouri So.) replied with 22 points and 6 rebounds for Finke Baskets. Newly promoted USC Leipzig maintains sixteenth position with 4-20 record. Finke Baskets lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the thirteenth place with 15 games lost. They share the position with Kirchheim. USC Leipzig will play against higher ranked Cuxhaven BasCats (#4) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Finke Baskets will play against Ehingen/Urspringschule (#6) in Allmendingen and hope to get back on the winning track.
Leader SC Rasta Vechta delivered the eighteenth victory on Saturday night. This time they beat 13th ranked Kirchheim Knights (9-15) 90-75. Worth to mention a quality performance of Richard Williams who helped to win the game recording 24 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was Sebastian Adeberg with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted SC Rasta Vechta maintains first position with 18-6 record, which they share with Goettingen. Loser Kirchheim Knights keep the thirteenth place with 15 games lost. They share the position with Finke Baskets. SC Rasta Vechta will meet Science City Jena (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Kirchheim Knights will play against Crailsheim Merlins (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Allmendingen supposed to be also worth to mention about. 6th ranked BV Chemnitz 99 (12-12) played at the court of seventh ranked Ehingen/Urspringschule (13-11). Ehingen/Urspringschule smashed BV Chemnitz 99 74-47. The winners were led by Andre Calvin who scored that evening 17 points and 6 rebounds. Ehingen/Urspringschule's coach Ralph Junge felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ehingen/Urspringschule moved-up to sixth place. BV Chemnitz 99 at the other side dropped to the seventh position with 12 games lost. Ehingen/Urspringschule's next round opponent will be Finke Baskets (#14) in Paderborn and are hoping to win another game. BV Chemnitz 99 will play at home against Duesseldorf Baskets (#3).
