Larry Gordon
Larry Gordon (196-F-87, college: Cal Poly Pomona) is a 25 year old 196cm forward that is playing his first season in the German Beko BBL for Phoenix Hagen. He played at Cal Poly Pomona (NCAA2) from 2005 to 2009 playing a total of 116 NcAA2 games. In his senior year, he played 33 games: 15.7ppg, 10.4rpg, 2.0apg, 1.7apg, FGP: 53.8%, 3PT: 38.5%, FT: 75.7%. He was a CCAA Player of the Year and NCAA D2 Finalist in 2009. In 2009-2010, he came to Europe as a rookie and played for Landstede Basketbal Zwolle (Holland-Eredivisie, starting five): 36 games: 14.0ppg, 8.1rpg, 1.8apg, 1.2spg, FGP: 48.3%, 3PT: 33.7%, FT: 75.8%. He played for ECE Bulls Kapfenberg (Austria-A Bundesliga) the last two seasons and last season played 38 games: 14.7ppg, Reb-3 (8.4rpg), 1.8apg, FGP-3 (65.2%), 3PT: 36.2%, FT: 77.1%. He spoke to Eurobasket before the game against the Brose Baskets Bamberg.

The up and down week to week continues for Phoenix hagen with win, loss, win ,loss. What is more annoying how these games turn out or being on a sail boat in the pacific ocean and having to endure the up and down of the sea? lol

Definitely the way the games are turning out, we are putting too much pressure on ourselves to make the playoffs if we keep losing games that we are able to win.

A tough 80-70 loss last weekend in Wurzburg. You have played in many loud arenas, but where did the Wurzburg arena stack up in noise level to other places you have seen in Germany?

It was up there, their compacted gym helps make it real noisy when they are doing well on the court.

Phoenix Hagen is a scoring machine, but untypically scored only 24 points in the first half. Why was the team unable to find a groove early?

I really don't know what is going on with our offensive rhythm, but it's like that sometimes and everybody in the league knows we are a run and gun team. So sometimes we are on and sometimes we are not. But scoring 24 pts in a half is not going to help us win games.

Your teammate Fabian Bleck had a solid game from the bench with six points in seven minutes. How happy have you been with his development?

Yea that was real good to see him have some success when called to play. He has really developed over the year and he will be a good player if he keeps up with what he is doing.

The next game is against the Brose Baskets Bamberg. What is your memory of the 107-80 loss in Bamberg?

They were more aggressive and out hustle us on both ends of the floor. They were more physical as well and it was too much for us to handle at that time.

Phoenix Hagen obviously has to play defense for 40 minutes. Is it their quick ball movement that is toughest to defend?

I think it's more on our mentality than anything, if we focus and concentrate and do what we want to do on defense I think we will be good, it doesn't really matter what the other team does. We have to be great at what we want to do on defense without too many mistakes. We want to play tough team defense

Who would win a dunk contest Lebron James or Blake Griffin?

Blake Griffin, I like Lebron but BG is a dunk contest dunker

Was the New Rochelle-Mt Vernon the craziest buzzer beater you ever saw?

Not really but it was a unique one. I've seen some crazier shots, but that one was good to. All he had to do was hold on to the ball and not throw it up. Tough luck

What was the last DVD movie that you saw?

P Diddy's Bad Boys of Comedy

Thanks Larry for the chat.
