The game between third ranked TV Saarlouis Royals (11-6) and fifth ranked Herner TC (10-7) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. TV Saarlouis Royals were defeated by Herner TC in Saarlouis 56-73. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of TV Saarlouis Royals. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Herner TC forced 25 TV Saarlouis Royals turnovers. The former international power forward Sonja Greinacher (188-92, college: Gonzaga) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 7 rebounds. American point guard Haiden Palmer (173-91, college: Gonzaga) contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Herner TC's coach Marek Piotrowski used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Latvian forward Sabine Niedola (184-91) answered with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists for TV Saarlouis Royals. Herner TC have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Marburg. TV Saarlouis Royals at the other side keep the third position with six games lost. Herner TC is looking forward to face league's second-placed TSV 1880 Wasserburg at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. DBBL top team - Gruner Stern Keltern (15-2) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat eighth ranked SV Halle Lions (6-10) 75-64. Belgian Emmanuella Mayombo (170-92, agency: LBM Management) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and Quenese Davis chipped in 21 points. American point guard Janee Thompson (170-93, college: Kentucky) responded with 28 points and 7 rebounds. SV Halle Lions' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Gruner Stern Keltern have an impressive series of fourteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 15-2 record, which they share with Wasserburg. SV Halle Lions at the other side keep the eighth position with ten games lost. Gruner Stern Keltern will play against Eisvogel Freiburg (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. SV Halle Lions will play against TV Saarlouis Royals and hope to get back on the winning track.

They dropped to the tenth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Freiburg. Fireballs will meet at home Hannover (#7) in the next round. ChemCats Chemnitz will play against TH Wohnbau Angels in Noerdlingen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

TSV 1880 Wasserburg outscored guests from Rotenburg 97-66. The best player for the winners was Rebecca Tobin who had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. TSV 1880 Wasserburg's coach Georg Eichler felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for TSV 1880 Wasserburg. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Keltern. Rotenburg/Scheessel lost their ninth game in a row. They stay at the bottom place with 14 games lost. TSV 1880 Wasserburg's next round opponent will be Herner TC (#4) on the road. Rotenburg/Scheessel will play against BC Pharmaserv Marburg (#5) and hope to win that game.

In the last two games of round 17 Freiburg was beaten by Hannover on the road 81-69. Marburg destroyed Donau-Ries on its own court 94-74.

SV Halle Lions was better in second period 19-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening.
