Here is the weekly review of the top performing German players, who play currently abroad.


Margret Skuballa

   #1. This week's number one is an international small forward Margret Skuballa (186-87, currently plays in France). She could not help Nantes Reze (9-11) in their last game. Despite Skuballa's very good performance Nantes Reze lost 65-69 on the road to the higher-ranked (#5) Bourges. She had a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting 10 rebounds. Skuballa also added 3 assists and 3 steals (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) in 38 minutes on the court. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Skuballa's first season with the team. She has relatively good stats this year: 14.3ppg, 7.7rpg, 2.5apg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 50.9%, 3FGP: 41.1% and FT: 94.0%(63-67) in 19 games she played so far. Ex-BC Marburg player is currently a member of the German senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international forward Romy Baer (187-87, currently plays in France). Baer contributed to an easy victory against one of league's weakest teams Lyon (4-16) 65-49 in the French LFB last Saturday. She scored 9 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Cavigal Nice Basket 06 (9-11) is placed seventh in the LFB. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. This season Baer has relatively solid stats: 10.8ppg, 4.9rpg, 4.6apg, 1.8spg, 2FGP: 50.8%, 3FGP: 34.1% and FT: 75.4%. She is in the roster of the German senior national team.

   #3. The German player who performed third best last week abroad was former U20 international center Marie Gulich (196-94, currently plays college basketball in the States). Gulich contributed to an Oregon St.'s surprising victory against the Univ.of Calif.at Los Angeles (13-5) 63-53 in the NCAA on Saturday night. She had a double-double by scoring 10 points and getting 16 rebounds. Gulich also added 3 assists in 36 minutes. The Oregon State University has not so impressive 0-13 conference record this season. The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA. This year Gulich averages: 10.0ppg, 8.1rpg, 1.8apg, 1.7bpg, 2FGP: 48.2% and FT: 70.5% in 33 games. She played for the German U20 national team three years ago.

Point guard Svenja Brunckhorst (179-91, currently plays in Spain) contributed to a Cadi La Seu's victory against the 12th-ranked Zamarat (6-16) 72-64 in the Spanish LFB in Wednesday night's game. Brunckhorst scored 6 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Cadi La Seu D'urgell (11-11) is placed seventh in the LFB. It was her team's third consecutive victory in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be important. Brunckhorst's overall stats this season are: 5.1ppg, 3.1rpg, 1.9apg and 1.1spg. She is also German national team player.

Former U18 international forward Patricia Brossmann (183-97, currently studies in the States) helped San Diego win their game against the University of Portland (3-11) crushing them 74-47 in the NCAA on Thursday night. She recorded 10 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. The University of San Diego has not so impressive 4-10 conference record this season. The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA. Brossmann's overall stats this year are: 5.0ppg and 5.0rpg. She used to play for the German U18 national team two years ago.

Guard Emma Stach (175-96, is currently at the American university) helped Gonzaga win their game against the University of San Francisco (8-8) crushing them 77-46 in the NCAA in Monday night's game. Stach scored 10 points in 22 minutes. The Gonzaga University has a very good 17-0 conference record this season. So far her team won all seventeen games in the conference. The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA. This year Stach's overall stats are: 5.9ppg, 2.7rpg and 1.3apg in 31 games. She is U20 international player who is currently on the German National Team roster.

International center Lisa Koop (197-85, college: Winthrop, currently plays in France) helped Bretagne Basket win their game against the 11th-ranked Dunkerque (6-14) 72-59 in the French LF2 (second division) on Saturday night. Koop scored 6 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 22 minutes. Landerneau Bretagne Basket (14-6) is placed third in the LF2. It was her team's third consecutive victory in a row. This year Koop's total stats are: 6.6ppg and 5.8rpg in 20 games. She is also German national team player.

   #8. Guard Lena Wenke (180-96, currently plays in Canada) was not able to help the University of Winnipeg (18-2) in their last game on Friday. Despite Wenke's good performance the University of Winnipeg was defeated 81-70 in Regina by the Cougars. She recorded 12 points and added 3 assists. The Conferences Tournaments already ended. Wenke has averaged so far 8.6ppg and 2.8rpg. She plays currently for the German U20 national team.

Former U20 international center Nadine Grieb (184-87, currently plays in Luxembourg) led AB Contern to a victory over the second-ranked Basket Esch (14-5) 77-61 in the Luxembourg Total League last Friday. Grieb was MVP of the game. She had a double-double by scoring 21 points and getting 12 rebounds. Grieb also added 4 assists in 40 minutes. AB Contern (11-8) is placed fourth in Places 1-6 group. It was her team's third consecutive victory in a row. Grieb is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's her fifth year in AB Contern's roster. She has reliable stats this season: 11.9ppg, 10.6rpg, 2.2apg and 1.4spg in 17 games. Grieb used to play for the German U20 national team ten years ago.

Shooting guard Britta Daub (177-99, currently plays college basketball in the States) was not able to secure a victory for the Houston Baptist (10-6) in their game against the Abilene Christian University (14-2) in the NCAA. She scored 5 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. The Houston Baptist was crushed 89-60 in Abilene by the Christian University. The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA. Daub has averaged so far 3.6ppg and 2.0rpg. She is U18 international player who is currently on the German National Team roster.

   #11. U20 international guard Paulina Koerner (175-96, currently plays college basketball in the States) couldn't help the one of league's weakest teams Columbia in their game against the Yale University in the NCAA. Koerner scored 5 points and had 4 steals in 24 minutes. Her team lost 47-55. Koerner has averaged so far 7.9ppg, 3.3rpg and 2.6apg in 26 games. She plays currently for the German U20 national team.

   #1. Anneke Schlueter (183-G, currently plays college basketball in the States) led Bradley to a victory against the Illinois State University (17-1) 70-59 in the NCAA last Saturday. Schlueter scored 12 points and blocked 2 blocks in 32 minutes. The Bradley University has 7-11 conference record this season. There are only two games left until the end of the NCAA Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Schlueter has reliable stats this year: 10.4ppg, 2.4rpg and 2.1apg in 25 games she played so far.

   #2. Moran Sapir (168-PG-95, currently plays in Israel) managed to help Elitzur Maclaren Holon to win against the fourth-ranked Ramat Hasharon (10-10) 76-71 in the Israeli D1 last Thursday. Sapir scored only one point, had 6 rebounds and dished 3 assists. Elitzur Maclaren Holon (9-11) is placed fifth in Places 1-6 group. It was her team's third consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the Second Stage. This season Sapir averages only 1.1ppg. She has a dual citizenship: German and Israeli.

   #3. Andrea Kohlhaas (180-G, currently studies in the States) contributed to an easy victory against the San Diego State University (3-10) 76-58 in the NCAA last Monday. Kohlhaas scored only 3 points. The San Jose State University has 6-7 conference record this season. The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA. Kohlhaas has averaged so far 2.9ppg and 1.7rpg.

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Wasserburg. Top-ranked TSV 1880 Wasserburg faced 3rd ranked Herner TC. Host TSV 1880 Wasserburg (6-0) smashed guests from Herne (4-2) 84-65. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Herner TC. The game was mostly controlled by TSV 1880 Wasserburg. Herner TC managed to win fourth quarter 22-17. The round was rather attractive and full of interesting results. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.
