The Regular Season in DBBL just ended.

The most important game in the last round took place in Herne between second ranked Gruner Stern Keltern (18-4) and fifth ranked Herner TC (12-10) on Saturday night. Gruner Stern Keltern was crushed by Herner TC on the road 76-49. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Gruner Stern Keltern. The game without a history. Herner TC led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Gruner Stern Keltern to just 7 points in third quarter. Herner TC forced 20 Gruner Stern Keltern turnovers and outrebounded them 35-22 including 25 on the defensive glass. American point guard Haiden Palmer (173-91, college: Gonzaga) fired 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. International swingman Ireti Amojo (176-90, college: Washington St.) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. Serbian Maja Vucurovic (187-91) produced 9 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Herner TC maintains fifth position with 12-10 record. Gruner Stern Keltern at the other side keeps the second place with four games lost.
Bottom-ranked Rotenburg/Scheessel managed to get a fifth victory. This time they won against eleventh-ranked Eisvogel Freiburg 79-69. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman D'Asia Chambers (182, college: Slippery Rock) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Janae Young contributed with 26 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Center Nadjeschda Ilmberger (190-96) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for Eisvogel Freiburg. Eisvogel Freiburg's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Rotenburg/Scheessel maintains twelfth position with 5-17 record. Eisvogel Freiburg lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with 16 games lost.

Defending champion maintains first position. Loser ChemCats Chemnitz keeps the eighth place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Donau-Ries.
We should mention about the upset which took place in Noerdlingen, where higher ranked Fireballs (11-11) lost to tenth ranked TH Wohnbau Angels (8-14) in a road game 74-86. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Fireballs. Kim Pierre-Louis notched a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds to lead the effort. TH Wohnbau Angels' coach Patrick Bar allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. TH Wohnbau Angels moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Chemnitz. Newly promoted Fireballs keep the sixth position with 11 games lost.

In the last two games of round 22 Marburg defeated Halle in a road game 88-76. Saarlouis beat Hannover at home 65-61.
The best stats of 22th round was 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists by Svenja Greunke of Marburg.

Halle - Marburg 76-88

There was no surprise when 9th ranked SV Halle Lions (7-14) were defeated at home by third ranked BC Pharmaserv Marburg (14-8) 88-76. The game was mostly controlled by BC Pharmaserv Marburg. SV Halle Lions was better in fourth quarter 21-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The former international power forward Svenja Greunke (188-89) notched a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and American guard Tonisha Baker (173-90, college: Campbell) supported her with 23 points and 6 rebounds. Even 16 points and 6 assists by American point guard Janee Thompson (170-93, college: Kentucky) did not help to save the game for SV Halle Lions. Her fellow American import forward Kaneisha Horn (185-92, college: USC, agency: Two Points) added 14 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. Four SV Halle Lions players scored in double figures. SV Halle Lions' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. BC Pharmaserv Marburg maintains third position with 14-8 record having six points less than leader Wasserburg. SV Halle Lions lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth place with 14 games lost.

Swedish guard Nathalie Fontaine (188-93, college: Ball St.) scored 36 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds (on 15-of-18 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and French forward Soana Lucet (185-87, college: Arizona, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 5 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked TV Saarlouis Royals (13-9) defeated at home 7th ranked Hannover (10-12) 65-61. It looked good early as Hannover took a 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then TV Saarlouis Royals had a 21-10 second period charge getting the lead and Hannover was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 61-65. American forward Portia Durrett (185-92, college: Oklahoma) notched a double-double by scoring 16 points and 19 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import guard Angela Tisdale (170-85, college: Baylor) supported her with 23 points. Even a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds by forward Stefanie Grigoleit (186-89) did not help to save the game for Hannover. The former international Birte Thimm (180-87) added 12 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. TV Saarlouis Royals maintains fourth position with 13-9 record. Newly promoted Hannover keeps the seventh place with 12 games lost.

Rotenburg/Scheessel dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Eisvogel Freiburg's 32 and made 25-of-29 charity shots (86.2 percent) during the game, while Eisvogel Freiburg only scored seven points from the stripe. They outrebounded Eisvogel Freiburg 38-24 including a 27-14 advantage in defensive rebounds.
